Good ole Charlie Daniels. Ya gotta love his music! He also has some very good, head-on-shoulders, feet-on-the-ground views of the present political atmosphere.

Short Fuse

I have no doubt in my mind that vicious attacks against an unsuspecting American population are being planned in this nation by radical Islamic activists and encouraged in some American mosques by radical Islamic clerics.

There are at least seven Al Qaida [sic] sleeper cells in major cities in this country just waiting for a signal to attack in the streets of America, maybe with conventional weapons or if they can get their hands on them the nuclear and chemical weapons.

While Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid lead the Congress and Senate in meaningless junk like non-binding resolutions, the enemy looks on the childish games in Washington and gloats, getting stronger and bolder every day.

How about you, Mr. President, do you still think Islam is a peaceful religion?

If you do Mr. President please wake up. They are not even peaceful to their brother and sister Muslims, much less to the rest of the world.

Of course for us to admit that would be to violate the ground rules of political correctness and what a horrifying thought that would be.

The Democrats and Republicans are more interested in destroying each other than they are in defending this country. They're children fighting over a toy in a sand box.

And in the meantime America sits here like a big dumb, overfed, overconfident, spoiled brat, ignoring the danger that exists right in our own back yard. We are so afraid of offending somebody or being accused of racial profiling that we invite anybody who wants to come on in and destroy us.

We refuse to even protect our international borders. We are more concerned with the rights of a scumbag drug dealer than we are with the protection of our children.

The day will come when there will be an urban war fought in the streets of America if somebody in power doesn't forget about their own dumb political parties and start looking out for the people of this country.

We are in grave danger, I know that and I'm not privy to the intelligence reports the people in Washington are regularly given. They should pay more attention to the reports and less attention to The Washington Post.

I have not heard one presidential candidate mention a word about what they would do to make America safer from domestic terrorists. And it is one of the most immediate and important problems facing America today.

And some of you people in Washington actually want us to give up our guns?

Ain't gonna happen.

Somebody's got to protect us.*

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

The rumbles of the disillusioned grow louder and the politicians clamp their hands ever tighter over their ears.

How does he know their are 7 sleeper cells in major cities. Next time pLease show some proof. Sorry Charlie, all the flag waving and chest thumping does not hide the fact we where lied to by our Government to get us involved in a "War on Terror".

cbsbyte,

why no mention of the open borders or gun grabbing? Do I smell an agenda?:)

I agree that he should have cited a source to back up his "sleeper cell" claim.

However, I disagree that the war on terror is unnecessary. 9/11 proves that terrorist around the world are a real threat to America.

As for Iraq (which inevitably comes up when people talk about the war on terror) I think W. was right to go to war because Saddam was required by Gulf War agreements (sorry, I can't cite sources either :)) to allow inspectors to check for wmds. When Saddam refused to allow inspectors to check for weapons, we had no choice but to assume that he was building wmds.

I will agree that we should have had a better plan going into the war. At this point we've won the war, but need to win the peace. We had to occupy Japan for many years after WWII and we eventually succeeded in establishing a stable government.

Sorry if this is getting a little off topic.

You should be angry at the Bush and Clinton adminstrations for failing to read the writing on the wall about Al Qaeda.

Just as I blame the cops when my car gets stolen.

Did you warn the cops for a few years that you knew it was going to get stolen and a very well known car stealing ring was going to do it? The intelligence was there that we were going to get attacked. Two presidents ignored it. Apparently some of the intelligence our government gets is true. No, of course they didn't do anything about it....they're too worried about taking our guns away from us to care about anything else....right?

To stay on topic....whether or not he's right about "7 sleeper cells", I think it's safe to say there are Al Qaida members in this country plannong attacks. I was told about an incident on the Mexican border in which we let an armed "militia" that was non American cross the border and did nothing to stop them. I had heard more about it, but haven't researched it yet. Sounds like something to do now. I'd agree the war is going to come to our streets because we're too worried about Iraq that Al Qaida operatives can easily come to this country through Mexico.

Not the one I had heard about, but here's 2 incidents in which armed immigrants entered our borders and nothing was done about it. One the Mexican Army and the other part of a drug cartel. I honestly don't know how accurate these are or if the sources are legit. They were just the first ones I found.

I quess the moral of the story is to not Assume anything, but to know for a fact. To bad Bush has not learned from his mistakes. All Bush had to do was send in more inspectors and use military force to make Saddam show them all sites. But we all know now that Bush was itching for a fight with Saddam for trying to kill his father.

Look, I think we need to get out of Iraq as much as anyone does. I know that I have said that we need to declare victory since we got Saddam out and move on and let the Iraqis have their civil war.(they are gonna have whether or not we are there).

To blame anyone other than the actual people who orchestrated 9/11, to blame it on our government, well, I won't even go there.

And anyone that is in favor of open borders while we are at war with those who would try and kill us for not believing in the same diety as them. Well, you are no friend of mine.

All Bush had to do was send in more inspectors and use military force to make Saddam show them all sites.

And all Clinton had to do was deal with the problem when it cropped up to begin with. But he didn't did he? Now we are left with the results, and with people pointing fingers at those who are trying to mop up the mess.

Until I learn that Sept 11 never happened, and that 3000+ of my fellow countrymen never died, and that there aren't any people in this who would do us harm at any opportunity in the name of their "religion", I will remain steadfast in my support of our current military situation.

So Charlie Daniels wants racial profiling to go on? Did he bother to realize that he could easily be racially profiled? I mean he is a white guy so he could be a serial killer. We should have him monitored. The olympic bomber and McVeigh were white guys. The Una-Bomber... do you all see the pattern? White males? I think I am on to something.

The whole "Do you still think Islam is a Religion of Peace" spiel is just nothing but plain old fashioned bigotry against Muslims. I guess then Christians are terrorists because some of them comitted terrorist acts.

So when he speaks out against "the rights of a scumbag drugdealer" does he forget that those same rights apply to all citizens? Does he know that the person being accused is a scumbag drugdealer? Shouldnt they be put on trial?

If I remember correctly children do not have rights. When they turn 18 they are granted recognition of rights.

I am sorry but Charlie Daniels is an idiot. And a racist idiot at that.

Don't you think that there are "cells" within our borders?
How do you think 9/11 was accomplished. Those folks were here for a long time planning and preparing to do evil.
They were practicing the ulitimate gorilla warfare. they lived among us, trained and educated themselves as if they were lawabiding American citizens.
I don't think that most of us know what racial profiling or profiling of any kind really is.
If by "profiling" and using our intilligence could have prevented this, so be it.
To simplify it, calling an illegal immigrant an "undocument allien", is like calling a drug dealer and unlicensed pharmasist.
Call a spade a spade, get on with protecting our country and the foundation on which it was built.
I could call everyone that I disagree with an idiot, but when all things are considered, well it just doesn't look too good for the home team. To disagree is fine, to resort to name calling and character bashing, shows a great deal of immaturity.

I always hear people say that we were lied to by the government in order to get us into a war (Iraq? Afghanistan?). Maybe we were lied to, but I have yet to hear anybody say what exactly that lie was.

I don't buy the argument that Bush lied about Saddam having WMDs. As I said before, when Saddam refused to let our inspectors do their jobs we had no choice but to assume that he was developing WMDs.

If we would have let the situation get out of hand, we would have people whining about how the government didn't do anything to prevent it.

How about you, Mr. President, do you still think Islam is a peaceful religion?

Just because some Terrorist's are Muslim, doesn't mean that all Muslims are Terrorists.
