Charter Arms Southpaw?

I am a lefty and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Charter Arms Southpaw revolver?

After years of shooting regular revolvers I wonder if it wouldn't be awkward even to us southpaws?

I'm also a southpaw shooter, and I've been shooting standard revolvers for so long, any such deviation would totally throw me off.

I think it's an answer to a question that's never been asked.

I'm ambi-, but my son is a lefty. It seems like a handicap to me that it is the ONE AND ONLY revolver specialized in this manner. One frame size, one caliber. I don't think that's a good thing to get hooked on, personally. Just my $.02, of course.

I'm another lefty. It's only within the last 10 years I've bothered to buy LH bolts. I've used Colt & S&W revolvers and don't see a problem. Ditto the 1911 style or GLOCKs.

Was over on Charter Arm's web page locking at revolvers but didn't even glance at their Southpaw guns.

I was wondering why they designed this in the first place. Does anyone know anyone who own's one or how many have been sold?

We lefties can and do adapt really well to the right-handed world.

I just looked at the gun on their website. Here's how I see it. The "Southpaw" is a self-defense gun. In a gunfight, your mind is jacked with adrenaline. It comes time to reload and you're desperately looking for the cylinder release latch.

It's not a gun I would want in a "panic" situation. I've been panicked before, and you only do that which you're already conditioned to do.

In my case, I've been conditioned to shooting S&W, Colt and Ruger revolvers.

Even my Dan Wesson was kind of hard to get used to. That's why I sold it.

Stop and think about it. The cylinder swings out to the left so we can use our domenant hand to do the reloads, whether it's one at a time, from a dump pouch or a speed loader.

I'm left-handed (though I shoot long guns right-handed.) A left-handed revolver would seriously screw me up..!
In the police academy, I was actually called on to teach a "tactical reload for lefties" to our right-handed instructors, and to one other cadet who was also LH'ed. That reload does take almost a full second longer than for a RH'ed shooter, but it was the best one known. Not even sure I can remember it now (that was in 1988), gonna go get my sixgun and try it out..!

I m with the rest of the lefties that learned on righty guns.If you start w/ a lefty CA and train w/ it,I'd think it would be a slight advantage...BUT having adapted and trained w/ righty guns ,it would screw me up too.It's probably a marketing thing mostly.
