Cheap quality?

No, but I enjoy finding and acquiring good-quality guns that are relatively inexpensive/cheap.

Taurus 856s, 605s, G3Cs and GX4s immediately come to my mind.

 

I don't consider Tisas a "cheap" gun. Inexpensive maybe, but not cheap.

My favorite "inexpensive" guns were Sears-Roebuck branded. I've got a Sears 12 ga pump gun now that I paid $99.00 for, with an extra barrel about 1978. Even then that was "inexpensive." Still that gun has worked for all these years shooting nothing but 3" magnum buckshot shells. Many a whitetail fell in front of it. I had a 12 double that I got from Sears when I was about 16 or so. My mother ordered it for me, and the Sears truck delived it a couple of days later (Pre 1968). The gun itself was a Stevens 311 rebranded. The Stevens 311 itself was known as an "inexpensive gun" in it's own right. Slapping "Sears-Roebuck and Co. on it did nothing to elevate it most peoples eyes.

I've owned a High-Point C-9, and a Kel-Tec P-11. Both worked quite well. A Bulgarian Makarov and a couple of CZ-83's? Both good guns that didn't cost a lot. A couple of Star's from Spain...very nice. A "Unique" 22 semi auto from France...that was the brand name..."Unique." I wish I still had that one.

Revolvers I mostly stuck with the big three, but I've had my share of Taurus and Rossi revolvers...and Charter Arms too now that I think about it. Harrington and Richardson and High Standard too. All good servicable guns.

I keep saying I'm halfway looking for a Raven 25 just for grins and giggles. I remember when they sold for about thirty bucks, but I couldn't afford thirty bucks back then.

 

I don't know for sure what inexpensive milsurp pistols are out there just now. Police turn-ins (when a department replaces all of their pistols) are another good thing to watch out for. There are LE trade-ins like Glocks and S&W M&P's for sale online somewhere at any given moment. AIM normally has a few batches.

Occasionally there will be some LE turn-in revolvers from Office of Corrections or from overseas. I got my daughter a really nice Model 64 that way.

Last time I checked, there were still CZ83's and S&W 3rd generation pistols for sale from what seems to be a descendant of Coles Distributing. They usually had CZ's and/or clones, also.

If there's an especially good deal on milsurp pistols right now, I'd love to hear about it.

My favorite milsurp pistol I snagged is a Tanfoglio.

My favorite LE turn-in I snagged is a Sig. IDC about the worn finish, It's a great shooter.

The tx22 isn't exactly double stacked either. It's just barely staggered. I load mine one by one and not to carefully, you just have to make sure the rims don't get hung up on each other. It's never had a feeding issue. I like it enough to where I plan to buy another.

I owned a Raven .25 for a couple years, back in the mid-80s. I left the magazine loaded for about three months and when I rotated ammo I found that the spring had taken such a set that the first round loaded would just fall out. Jeepers, they didn't even use decent springs!

 

PSA (Palmetto State Armory) offers Glock clones for great prices. I bought a G19 Clone from them and it has run perfectly thus far.

Went through my brief phase of buying some Combloc and other cheap oddball handguns a number of years ago. The charm wore off very quickly.

 

Inexpensive quality? You bet!

$275 Ruger SR9 and SR9c - after the models were discontinued and remaining stocks were heavily discounted
$300 S&W M&P 9c - this model was discounted as an orphan after M&P 2.0 and Shield 2.0 models were introduced
$325 Sig SP2022 - after initially being discontinued and French police contract overruns were imported for liquidation

 

A Kahr(ap) P380. Absolute nightmare of a pistol. My ownership of it would be a past-tense thing, but I can’t sell the piece of junk to anyone in good conscience.

I was buying the ring of fire guns like crazy when they were 34 to 45 dollars. Hence the reason I will not buy “cheap” guns today.

As others pointed out cheap has different meanings. For example I have an XDs I paid less than 300 for new. It works very well but It’s pretty much worthless on the open market.

 

As far as new pistols I'll say the Canik TP9SF . I got one new last year for $274 . They are made in Turkey but are as reliable as a Glock 17.
As far as older used guns I'll say the Ruger P-Series such as a P85 , P89, P90 ,and on . They are big and bulky but run forever. They are sold used from $199-$350.

 

Lol I have two of them. One i got at 16 when running a trapline and it functioned fine. A few years ago got one from mother in law. I bet both are 40 years old and still function fine.

 

Even then as dumb as I was then, I knew they were cheap, and I don't mean inexpensive. They were just the only pistols I could imagine being able to afford, and even at that I never managed to come up with the money for one...about thirty bucks if my old memory is right.

I keep saying I'm going to buy one if I ever see one cheap enough, just for grins and giggles, but I haven't even seen one for years, and the last one I saw was tagged at $100.00. I didn't want to grin and giggle that much. It was at least NIB, and had fake MOP grips though.

 

I've been surprised by Zastava steel frame pistols. No, they won't feel like a tuned 1911, but they're basically GI models and can be had for under $350 and they are bombproof.

Taurus lately been very good too.

 

Ruger is a cheap gun?

 

Not all, some like wrangler and security series sure are.
