I posted this as a reply to another thread about bore lights, but after I did I thought it would be useful enough to post here.

If you have a smartphone, look at this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014W2PT7A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

It is a USB endoscope you can use to inspect the bore of .30-cal+ firearms. The camera is 7mm wide. It has its own LED lighting on the camera. There is also a 5.5mm version (maybe from another brand.)

Here are some videos from it:

A "clean enough" AR-10:

A dirty Tikka T3:

An M1903 that has been shooting corrosive ammo since 1917 (I kept the barrel on it, bacause it still shoots 3" groups!):

Your post over in black powder convinced me to buy one off ebay! It looks really cool! Thanks!

Doesn't look half bad for what it is. I think I'm going to have to get one. Ive seen those before but wasn't sure what to make of it. I've used fancier GE borescopes. Granted it had a motorized pivot head & better pic/ video. But that thing was like 5-6 grand I think.

I picked up a NTS100 Endoscope on eBay for $67.99 with shipping included. It came with a one meter fiber optic probe. I used it to check out the cluster gear on a transmission for a 1952 MG TD. The end of the probe was a little stiff but I was able to get the photos I wanted. It worked great and gave high enough resolution photos to reveal the finest details.
