Some time back...maybe even a year or so ago, 1911tuner talked about the best springs to put in the CheckMate magazines and I've forgotten over time which or what it was. Anyone remember or can point me to that thread? I couldn't find it.

11lb Wolff with the 7 round CMI, Wolff 5% XP with the 8 round.

    Faded memory

If I remember right, if you order direct from Checkmate, spiffier strings are available.

Maybe unlikely for a local Gun Emporium to have them in stock.

Wolff would be second choice through Brownells.

EDIT: Virgil Tripp did ( still does?) use ISMI magazine springs in his 7-8 rd Cobra magazines. Don't know how well the ISMI springs will play with the std GI 'pimpled' follower.
