Chiappa 3 barrel shot gun.

Apparently I need to get out more.... I went to Bass Pro and on the way out saw a magazine cover with this triple barreled wonder.

Interestingly, the short 18.5" barrel version has a stock that can be partially disassembled to a pistol grip. I think I might like that feature.... maybe.

They also have a 28" barrel version.

Has anyone seen this in person?

Any feed back other than 'its worthless' or 'it would be heavier than O's bag of lies' or 'its a Chiappa -nuff said'?

I am at the NRA show in Houston. I'll see if they are exhibiting. If you ever have the chance to go to the NRA National firearms Museum in Virginia you need to check out their Petersen collection. He had a number of one of a kind custom shotguns made in 4-barrel configurations. works of art.

A cut down version of this holds as much as a Serbu Shorty, without the possibility of short-stroking it.

I don't know NFA stuff, but it sure would make a nice "behind-the-counter" weapon for a shop owner.

It's pretty expensive. $1629.00 retail. I would love to sbs one of these but for what it is I have a hard time justifying that price tag.

Shouldn't a typical Drilling have the two shotgun barrels and a third rifle barrel? I could fork out that kind of money for a traditional Drilling. Just being a three barreled shotgun doesn't do much for me. I'd spend that money on a decent semi-auto and a duck plug.

I classify it is as an answer searching for a problem.

And it's a Chiappa, 'nuff said.

I cant justify the cost either but I'm strangely intrigued by it.


The stock that turns into a pistol grip is really cool.... in a strange way. I cant see myself utilizing such a feature but I want a stock like that.

Gimmick. I can get an unweildy beast of a coach double for $500 or less; a third barrel ain't worth an extra $1100. If I really NEED more than two shots, I can get a maverick 88 for less than $300.

I put this in the same category as the double barrelled 1911

Overseas where pump actions, and autoloaders are verboten I can see a real need and use. But for the U.S. market, screams gimmick.

"Well guys, how can we make a (fill in the blank) the weirdest thing anyone has seen in some time? Should we think about this over some chipotle?"

So, that's what I think about that scattergun.

Are you serious? I know it was $1600+ MSRP, I've wondered about street prices. That is pretty steep for such a gun IMHO. If it were in the price range of some of the coach guns I might get one just for the novelty of it. However, for $1629 one can get some pretty decent shotguns that are much more useful. I can think of about a dozen shotguns of the top of my head that sale for less than that and which I would rather own. For any task for which one might use a shotgun I can think of a better gun that costs less than that.

One can get much less expensive shotguns that are actually probably better for just about any task. There are a number of serviceable pump guns that can be had for around $200.

$1600 is nearly Tromix SBS money or decent double gun money if that is more your thing.

I saw both the hunting and HD defense models at the 2013 SHOT Show.The shorter one was fairly well balanced and would make a great HD defense gun,especially for areas that were not gun friendly for pumps and semi-autos with large mag tubes.
I was told by the Iti rep gal that they took Rem-Chokes.The $1600 is out of line and will hurt the sale of these,thats Benelli money.They need to trim $1k off the price tag.
A Stoeger SxS can be had new for $329.99 in many places,I could almost buy two Stoegers at even my suggested retail price for the Triple Lindy special.

That's nearer a ton of money for 3 shots and no more.

Even if I liked the concept into form, I would be purchasing a nice semi auto and a Marine Magnum with the money, hands down.

$1600 for a QUALITY SxS is way too cheap; however, QUALITY is the operative word. Base models from Spain start over $3,000 with mid-range models going for about $5-8,000.

Three barrel guns (and more) have been around in Europe for quite some time. I agree about the weight, that is ridiculous. A quality gun would be closer (in 12) to 6.75-7#, otherwise it is too unwieldly

There is nothing wrong with the weight. Fixed breech shotguns with 76mm chambers start getting interesting at about 8lb. Short barrel one would make nice HD weapon. It is little known fact that in 1970s PB made small run of riot o/u BL shotguns with 18.5" barrels choked Cyl/Cyl or 1/4 over 1/4.
