I have this urge to get an inexpensive 20 gauge break open shotgun for use with a Chiappa X-Caliber 357 insert.

With that in mind I have been seeing what is available at the local gun stores.

    So far I found :
a Stoeger E.R Amantino Single Barrel Classic for $150

Also an old Stevens for around $80, but it did not have a rib.

I might try hunting down 20 gauge Hatfield at Walmart. I saw a 12 gauge version today. Is the above Stoeger worth spending $50 more?

I know there are a couple of different shot gun sight that attach to the rib...Williams Universal Ghost Ring Fire sight or Truglo Tru Bead Turkey Universal sight are possibilities for this project.

What non gun smith sights are available to add to a ribless barrel?

Last year I had the same thought about the X-Caliber .357 insert/adapter. For $40 or $50 it's not a bad price, but when I found out that Midland Arms is coming out with a .357 barrel for their single shot shotguns, I quickly lost interest. It's really difficult to shoot these adapters accurately from a shotgun without a rear sight and in my Mossberg Maverick O/U that has a front and rear sight, it's still difficult. Also, the extra 8 inches of barrel you get with a rifle really ups the velocity and power of .357.

If you're still set on using the adapters, Midland makes a 20 gauge shotgun.
