I debated on starting this one, but I feel I must. No offense to the mods here, but I think it is a little fishy that a mod would start an obviously political based thread then shut it down after several posts concerning the inevitible AWB disagreed with his point of view. The original thread was only mildly gun related and the OP had to know it was going down the political road as soon as they hit the submit button. Let's be real here, don't start that kind of thread or let it play out. I know I will get flack for this, but the potential for AWB II is a very clear and present danger. Delete this if you will, but I don't agree with the way that was handled.

I agree.

Of course it was going to turn political. That's what started the whole "panic" anyway.

:scrutiny:

Generally, if one has a problem with the way a Moderator handles something, they take it up with them in PM's.

Doing it out in the open is usually considered bad form. Just sayin'.

This is a bit gossipy, isn't it?

Mods can make mistakes, or have errors in judgement just like anyone else.
(Not necessarily that I think this was the case).

But give 'em the respect they deserve...
they do a great job keeping The High Road on the high road!

Oh, Gawd

Look, guys.

All hso is trying to say is "keep your powder dry."

Today is what it is.

Nothing you post today will change the outcome.

If you want to make any real difference to what follows, it's time to use the Activism forum for actual, uh, activism.

We were kind of hoping to head off forty-eleven-dozen posts that all say pretty much, "OMG! OMG! OH NOES! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"

So, couldja just take it in the spirit it was offered?

Please?

:D:D:D Odds are that even with the Second Comming or the end of the world if it ain't gun related the mods would kill it:D:D:what: No this isn't a personal attack, it's the truth:neener:

That's how I read it and was hoping it would help. It's a shame that so many of the posts on this board and degenerated into distasteful mix of whining and fear-mongering.

I give them the up most respect. I'm not dis-respecting them in any way I'm just merely pointing out the obvious.

I am seldom moved to post a "+1" but I'll make an exception for that.

Even my darling free market system is showing its seamy underbelly with folks that should know better hoarding and gouging. TFL even has a "don't get gouged" thread running compliments of Wild West.

"Chicken Little" is an apt analogy but perhaps should be joined by "The boy who cried wolf". Those of us that have been getting NRA mailers since mammoths roamed the earth wonder how many "most critical elections ever" we can have given that we've had one every two years for decades. Hyperbole always dilutes one's message over the long term.

In addition to self-dilution we have AHSA and AFL-CIO this time around taking advantage - should things get dicey at least it'll flush out AHSA among our brethren.

If memory serves, 1992 through 2000 saw a 1.5 million bump in NRA's numbers - things self-compensate to a small extent.

We would have had to remained vigilant in any event. If additional vigilance is required it will do little good if we hyperventilate ourselves into a coma at the starting line. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I have a better explanation. The mods were asleep during normal hours, like normal human beings, and dealt with it when they got around to it. There are so many of us willing to get snips in in the heated political mood, they can only work so fast. It's not like they don't have lives outside of THR, and sit at the keyboard drooling over an opinion they can jump on, and roll out of bed to see if the twit they were arguing with responded during the night.

If they offered me their job, I would refuse it.

ArfinGreebly wins the thread. The constant whining and fear-mongering with absolutely no attempt at activism is ridiculous. If you're honestly concerned about upcoming legislation, then you need to make your voice heard, either in public venues, through activism, or by donating to pro-RKBA organizations who will fight the upcoming battles on our behalf.
