Chinese SKS that takes AK mags - how good? Price?

The SKS-Ms are going for well-north of four bills and the SKS-Ds even higher. Here is a pair of "M"s imported in 1993 and 1994. Note the short barrel, lack of the bayonet lug and monte carlo stock (they also came with one of several varations of thumbhole stocks). These rifles suck. I only collect them as a public service to keep them out of the hands of well-meaning but misguided shooting enthusiasts.

I like my SKS Sporter which, from the pictures here, must be an M model.
The only hassle is AK mags may take a bit of finese to seat them in the mag well.
I've read one can do a bit of grind on the mag so they seat better, but I'm concerned that could degrade the fit in an AK mag...so I just live with that using "finese".

FOR MARKTX: Did you buy that rifle?

I got mine in October of 07. Saw it sitting in the shop for 399.00 and it appeared to be unfired.

I knew the price was by no stretch a bargain but it seemed fair and I was willing to pay it. So I did. Never regretted buying it. :)
