Well the good-'ol Christmas bonus will be coming soon and I have to decide on what new gun to add to my collection and I have turned to my friend here to help me make-up my mind. I did a little window shopping yesterday and still find myself pulled in many directions...... Mil-surplus rifles, SKS, AK-47, and the 45ACP and 40 pistols.

I really like the Taurus millennium pro 45 and the glock 45 (model 21 I think) also saw a really nice looking ak-47 with a 30 rnder and composite stock.

The budget will be around 500.00 +- what are your suggestions

I really would like to add a 45 to my collection but feel like I could be wearing blinders and might pass up another great addition to my collection

    Help

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with .45 ACP, AKs, or Milsurps.

I like Glocks a lot. I have a G30 (compact brother to the G21), it's a little chunky for CCW, but it is a beautiful tool and has never let me down.

AK SARs are fantastic for plinking, and I have seen how accurate VEPRs can be. It might help if we knew what was in your collection and which direction you wanted to go.

Of the three listed I votefor the Glock 21.

IMHO a much better gun than the Taurus.

:neener: And only the bad guys have AK's the good guys have AR's.:neener:

Get a 1911 variant! I'd love to have a Para Ordnance. Then again...in my current financial state I'd be luck just to be able to afford a Rock Island Armory 1911.

    Err, what's a Christmas bonus? :p

Can't go wrong with any of those. My advice: get the moolah in hand, go into your favorite gun store, and buy what interests you most at the time.

I've got a better idea... do something for the good of your soul! Send your bonus to me, and I'll buy a gun and go shooting with it. Each time I pull the trigger, I'll remember you in my prayers. How's that for an offer you can't refuse (NOT!)?

    :neener: :p :D

How healthy is your savings account balance? Is it equal to at least six months of mortgage or rent payments?

If so, go shopping. The gun recommendations posted above are very good.

If not, deposit your bonus, in full, into your bank account. Pay yourself first.

An SKS is an excellent rifle for any collection. They're cheap ($150 at gun shows unissued), they shoot cheap ammo (7.62x39...around $85/1000 rounds), and they're extremely accurate.

Recoil is minimal and they really blow the hell out of things on the berm :D

Extra $ to your savings account for your next one!

    I'd think you could get a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 for around $500.

Or, do as I'm doing and get a CMP Garand for $400-500.

    Or, stock up on mil-surps:
    91/30: $70
    M38: $70
    M44: $70
    M48: $70
    900 rds 7,62x54: $80
    800 rds 8mm: $70
    --------------------------
    Total ~$430 + shipping, tax

Heck, you even got some left over :D

The G21 feels like a two-by-four. Make sure you handle it before buying.

    From the 1911 stable: a Springfield WW-II G.I. Mil Spec .45ACP,
or if mo' funds become available a Para Ordnance 1911 SSP.

    From the rifle stable: a Yugo SKS and a case or two of ammo;
    or a Beretta CX-4 Storm

    Best Wishes,
