I have been looking for a single action revolver in some kind of .32 caliber and came across this interesting looking specimen.

    https://www.cimarron-firearms.com/lightning-32-20-32-h-and-r-dual-cylinder-3-1-2-in.html

Does anyone on one or have any experience with them? Would they be worth actively looking for? How rare are revolvers from this company? Any feedback on them would be greatly appreciated.

I think that Cimarron is an importer whose revolvers are made by Uberti or Pietta these days. Both of those companies make very good SAA reproductions.

My Cimarron revolver has been excellent. I think it's a Pietta.

You are correct, Cimarron is just an importer.

I'd highly recommend going to your closest LGS who has any revolver with a bird's head grip and trying it out first......... I really used to want one until I had the opportunity to hold one.
Like Tallball said Cimarron is an importer, Uberti and Pietta make their guns so they are not rare at all.

E.M.F, another importer of Uberti and Pietta made revolvers might have some better deals.

My friend Bob has one of these in .38 Special and really, really likes it. He almost added it to his CCW -- very accurate and comfortable to shoot.

The grip is a personal choice -- I like the looks, but the fit in my big hands is indifferent. I think I'd prefer it with a checkered grip instead of the smooth finish.

I find this package quite tempting.

Also Dixie Gun Works has some occasional good deals on these revolvers.

I had a Uberti Cimarron import in .45 Colt. Excellent gun. Should be sweet in .32.

I’ve had my eye on the one with both the .32h&r and 32-20 cylinders.

Wow, that’s a very nice looking revolver! The .32 H&R version sure does look tempting. :)

My only experience with Italian SAA reproductions was a Uberti Cattleman .45 Colt that I bought for SASS in the mid 1990’s. It was a fun gun that never gave me a problem. I gifted it to a friend in 2008, and it’s still going strong up in far Northern Idaho.

    Stay safe.

I wanted one of those in 38 special, but wasn't sure about the bird's head grip.

My solution was to buy a small SA 22lr revolver with a 3.5" barrel and bird's head grips for a very cheap price.

It turned out those grips don't work for me, so I inexpensively put plowhandle grips on the 22.

I'm glad I did that, instead of going the 38 special route first.

I'd sure like another 32 caliber SA revolver, though. :)

Street price on one of those should be about $150 less than MSRP.

I have a Beretta Stampede that is essentially a re-branded Uberti SAA (Beretta acquired the company some years ago). Fit and finish of my Beretta are first rate and the gun works just fine.

Let us know if you do manage to find the Cimarron Lightning and how it does when you take it to the range.

I have looked at them from afar. Never got too deep into them because as a dual caliber (I would have to get it with both cylinders) and not knowing what it is sighted for could be a nightmare. If it had adjustable sights I would already have one.

If you have to ask, just keep walking. :)

Lately a lot of Ruger .32 Single Sixes on Gun Broker have been hovering right around a grand, either just south or considerably north.

I was thinking about a .32 H&R Ruger Buckeye that also came with a spare 32-20 cylinder, but then prices spiked and I lost interest.

The grips pictured at the OP's link remind me of those on my High Standard Sentinel. Someone famous... who was it, Jeff Cooper? or Skeeter Skelton? or maybe Elmer Keith? Had high praise for the shape of the Sentinel's grips. And they are highly ergonomic. (Nah, couldn't have been Cooper, we was a 1911 fanboi.)

It seems like there have been a few Buckeye Blackhawk convertibles on Gunbroker sitting at around $1200 for the past decade or so. As far as I can tell, they just sit and get relisted. Never sell. I finally bought the .40/10mm when I found one (not on GB) for $800.

I’d like to add the .32 Buckeye some day, but again not at $1200+.

I do have the 8-shot .327 Fed Blackhawk. I will say it is a really big gun for the caliber. The .32 seems more suited to the Single Six size frame.

I'll second that -- the Single Seven is quite manageable with .327 Federal ammo, despite the very considerably muzzle flash. It also doubles as a nice, accurate vehicle for .32 H&R and S&W Long.
