Cimmiron Arms Model "P" JR., anybody have one?

I'm interested in a Cimmiron Arms Model "P" JR. in 38 spl but no dealer here in central Indiana seems to have one that I can find and I don't want to buy/order one with out at least handling one. Any of you guys or girls have one that you could at least tell me what you think of them? I'm trying to make up my mind between a 3-1/2" or a 4-3/4" standard, blued model. The next 1500 Gun Show is a ways off and they might not have one there either.

This Evil Roy has a hammer problem. That being I can manipulate the hammer forward and backward without articulating the trigger.
I'm not sure why, but when i control the trigger pressure and drop the hammer. The hammer only falls half way. So until it is fixed I wont use it although it fires. This happened when i was practicing my cowboy action and fanning the trigger a couple weeks ago.

I would appreciate some advise about this problem before taking it to the gunsmith.

I have the Uberti "Stallion"..

which I think is the same as the Cimarron P Jr. It is a 38 special small frame weighing about 31 ounces with a 4.75" barrel. I love the little gun and my wife likes it too. The grip is as large as the bigger frame guns and the recoil is very mild.

Sounds like you broke the sear off of your trigger, or broke your sear and bolt spring, very easy to do when "fanning" a SAA pistol. The sear on these type of revolvers was not meant for fanning, they are meant to be set by cocking the hammer back properly before pulling the trigger. Besides, we do not fan revolvers in SASS.

A few years ago, I was a member of a group that did old west re-enactments. We never fired live ammo, just blanks in our pistols. Needless to say, I broke many trigger sears, and a lot of sear and bolt springs while doing this. Kept several springs and triggers in my spare parts kit, so I could repair my pistols between performances.

They look to be similar but I cannot tell if Cimmiron and Uberti are connected in any way but the model P Jr. also has a 3-1/2" barreled model which Uberti does not offer. The reason I'm looking for a smaller framed single action revolver in 38 special is that I want to wear one in a 20 degree crossdraw holster and I have no idea if I would like the standard or birdshead grip better untill I try them out. A full sized model P frame is just harder for me to handle quickly if you can imagine what I mean. A Ruger Single Six would work fine but in a 3-1/2"-4-1/2" barrel but they all stop at 4.62" and .32 caliber. I'll just have to try and find what I want at our next big 1500 gun show I guess.

OK, I have discovered that Uberti makes the revolvers/parts for Cimmiron Arms, they are made from select parts as so stated. Also, the Lightning model is the Jr. frame with a birdshead grip. I'm glad I got that cleared up.

Once you get it fixed, quit fanning the hammer.

I have one of these with the 3-1/2" barrel in .32-20 / .32 H&R interchangable cylinders. Fun little gun and looks great. I did have a few kinks when I first bought it. Some of the screws worked loose (nothing a little loctite didn't take care of) and the cylinder pin retention pin/spring came loose (luckily I found it after it sprung off of the gun). Once everything was tightened and gun broke in - it's been great.

I have the Lightning which is the same gun except it has a bird's head grip. These smaller guns have a frame mounted firing pin. Out of the box, the firing pin on mine was short and had to be replaced. It was not making good strikes on the primers. Other than that, its a great little gun.

How do you feel that the grip feels compared to a Ruger Single Six, that is, if you have ever held one, is it smaller, bigger, longer, shorter or what? I cannot find one to try out.

I bought a P jr. on March 12 from a place in Carlisle Ohio which is just south of Dayton . At the time they had another just like it . It is the charcoal blue. The gun is very well built with perfect timing and lock up, shoots to point of aim right out of the box and the grip feels full size. The only drawback I can find is the ejector rod could be 3/8 inch longer so empty cases would fall free, but I would buy it again in a minute. About forgot . The place I got it from is Deadwood Guns & Ammo . hope this helps.

I have the lightning model, pretty accurate shooter when it worked. I didnt have very many rounds through it before it came out of time.

Then cylinder catch doesnt come up all the way anymore, took it apart and cleaned it, still nadda, Im just going to have to get a new spring and im sure that will make it good as new!

One thing to remember on these is that the cylindar pin has two slots, one will lock it up, and the other is where you want it to be able to use it LOL
and always check it after you fire so many rounds as they are known to wiggle forward if you dont adjust the tension right, seems like alot of folks pick up the oversized pin as well.

The cylinder bolt spring is a common spring to fail in any Colt single action style gun. I've had several replaced in my 3rd Generation SAA. Wolf makes a wire type spring that solves that problem. Unfortunately, it only comes for the full size SAA and clones. I just keep an extra on hand for my Lightning.

The Lightning is more on line with the original Colt Lightning in size and style. The grip shape gives it a nice historical look. Before anyone starts the flame war ~ yes I know the original was a double action and the Cimmaron is a scaled down SA. Still for the size and shape of the grip, it has the traditional look.

I'm begining to think that I will get a Cimmiron Lighning 3-1/2" and a model P Jr. 4-3/4" since I cannot seem to make up my mind. I like both of these.
