Nolo, I suspect I know what inspired you
Partially correct.
This has been one of my most longstanding gun projects, second only to the PPSh-41 redesign project.
This is actually the second rifle I started drawing, and it went through three major incarnations:
-The Carbine, of which it's original name is lost to me. It was based off of the SKS, and designed back when my knowledge of firearms was relatively limited. It was chambered for .30-06.
-The Forty-Niner. Now that rifle was truly based off the FN-49, as even the name reflects its ancestry. If a rifle is a near copy, I always make sure the name hints at the original maker so that it is clear who I am homaging. You can see the picture of the Forty-Niner in my thread entitled "The Citizen's Rifle", I think it's on page 3 of Rifle Country. It'll be the second picture.
-The Lynx. pretty much all of the info for this rifle can be found in "The Citizen's Rifle". It incorporates features of many rifles including the Vz. 52, FN-49, Garand, G43, AG-42, SKS, SVT-40 and others.

You have got to be kidding, once O-bomb-us gets into office there won't be a gun left in the US! lest not for civ's like most of us :banghead:
But they'll get their moneys worth when they come for me!:neener:

Cool sketchwork and concept development anyway  Our company is finishing its first proprietary rifle and have a few more on the way. The concept and design phase is 90% of building a product, the other 10% is lots and lots of $$$ :cuss:

Hmmm...
Well, I'm probably not going to get anywhere with these any time soon, as I'm only 17.
But I'm going to school for Mechanical Engineering, so there's hope.
Unless you want to make it...
;)

As much as I'd love to tackle the project we are up to our eyeballs in R&D work already and you'd probably have your BSME done by the time we got around to tooling up. If you have any questions designing parts or mechanisms feel free to shoot me a sketch and I'll give you my .02 on it as far as simplicity of machining and strength/wear issues. My email here is [email protected] if you need any advice. BTW, have you progressed to the blueprinting/dimensioning phase? You'll find that is 100x more difficult than drawing up the concepts :banghead:

Funny you mention that, I'm actually working on my first blueprint right now.
And yes, it is.
I'll take you up on that offer sometime. My email is [email protected].
Unfortunately, no that is not a joke.

yes no

for one thing why would you dump the tried and true.there are many browning
belt feds that are not on the books as well as sub guns.if they round up autos
from door to door they will take you too or shoot you.you want a gun taking their ammo because you can pick their ammo up.australians like British will obey authority, canadians have picked up bad habits from use they dont.you have to hit back not sit back.you dont want a cal that you cant replace.and you want one that sounds like theirs.:neener::uhoh::rolleyes::D:D

Make mine.

Hey There;
They would not like what they found coming after me or mine.
But I would say maybe a Butter Knife. I agree with Shawnee.
There are not very many calibers that they would not class as military.:neener:

Yeah, he has another thread on that rifle design - somewhere between a FN49 and a Rasheed and a VZ 52 rifle and the moon and NYC.

To refresh for those answering the question:

1. Shotguns are not allowed, this is a RIFLE question.
2. Not all semi-autos are banned, just evil military style ones, which I assume includes the Kel Tec SU-16.
3. Bolt guns in milsurp config ARE banned under the scenario posed.

So it comes down to, do you want an (a) semi-auto sporter, or (b) levergun, or (c) pump, or (d) turnbolt sporter? And specifically which one? And also, what caliber?

I'd want semi-auto sporter first (I said the Browning BAR above, but the Ruger Deerfield carbine in .44 mag does have its merits), pump second, levergun third, and turnbolt sporter fourth - this is focusing on speed of followup shots, on which I place a high premium.

The Remington 7600 or 760 does have the additional appeal of having 10-rounds mags available for it, as does the 7400 (same mags). The issue there is sketchy reliability, if you believe the internet.
