Howdy

I bought my Model 19-3 in 1975. I paid $125 1975 dollars for it. It is still wearing the goncalo alves oversized target grips that it came with.

I still have the box and all the goodies.

Yeah, “market” my…um…eye!
I like the shop because they get very unique things…. Don’t like the shop because the owner is a collector and knows his prices 😂.

His shop was Smashed & Grabs by the KiaBoys (pre-teens stealing Kia’s and smashing into store fronts) over a year ago and they are still trying to recover. If we don’t support the local guys, they won’t be there in the future

In snubby Six Shooters, I’ve got a Ruger Speed Six.

In K Frames, all my Combat Magnums are now Stainless. A 4” I got for Rookie of the year. Engraved and, unfired from 1986.

Another 4” a friends dad got as Dallas Police Assoc. President and engraved as such.

And a 6 1/8” model 66.

I’ve owned a couple blue ones. Including a 2 1/2”. All long gone.

When I was just getting into the cop game, the Stainless duty guns and Chiefs Specials were worth their weight in gold.

A big gun distributor called Sa-So was so overstocked on blued guns, they had a huge blow out. Model 10’s were on sale for $100. Plain blue 19’s were $200. Bought a model 10 and two 19’s. Again, long gone now.

Your nickel 19 takes me back.

M19 round butt+ Magnums= ouch.
Certainly it's not a range toy you'd shoot all afternoon, but a M19 or M66 snubby makes a great BUG or primary CC. I can tolerate four or five cylinder loads of moderate level magnums before my hand screams ENOUGH!! :p I carry full magnum loads when I CC mine, but most times practice with stuff loaded a little above .38+P level, about 1100 fps MV.

Great looking M19-4 you found, Mark_Mark, did you take it home? I've got a 4" blued M19-3 and a M66-1 snubby like the nickel 19 you showed.

Cool!

I have a 4" 19-4, factory nickle. Bought used a quarter century ago. Shoots very well.

didn’t take it home, but I did a T-shirt polish at the shop and it’s perfect under the grease and finger prints! nice Wax job will make it shine! I think it’s expensive, compared to the 66 stainless no dash I found for $400 at the other shop

nice Combo you got there!

I’m getting away from carrying magnums. Too much noise/recoil for follow ups. And I might be in close quarters.. I.E. the car. I like my hearing!

I paid more than that for my stainless shown above (although it was ANIB when I bought it) and $150 under that for the blued M19-3, but that was in 2014. Nickel S&W's usually carry a value premium of 10-25% over a blued version in the same condition. Model and age are what varies the amount of premium. Roughly 10% of S&W non-stainless models are nickel plated, so they are less common, hence more expensive. Snubbys are a fairly popular configuration as well, that's not a terribly high price, IMO.
