Some other websites have enjoyed the pictures - so I will attempt to share them here. I ask if you don't like said rifle you are more than welcome to share your opinion; but can you please do so in a way so my thread doesn't get locked.

Ok, so the rifle itself.

The client, as I refer to him, was a major financial backer in our projects and we assembled and plan to give only 1 of 4 original prototypes as a small token of our appreciation.

Let us just say he is a collector of rare and unique firearms (or anything firearm related) and he is the only public entity that will be in ownership of one of our internal units which are all stamped and serialized for ours (and his) records.

What you are looking at is simply the chassis portion of a more complex system that will eventually be liquid/gas cooled and is for bench, prone, or support shooting.

This is for the civilian market and has zero battlefield applications (in our opinion). It is not a resolution looking for a problem, it simply is being developed and exists because "we can".

It's an interesting idea. I've often wondered why the precision bench shooters don't try some kind of cooling device rather than waiting minutes between shots. But knowing them, they'd still probably wait minutes between shots even with such a system! You can fix barrel heat, but you can't fix them ;-)
 
That is the exact reason we decided to build this.

We thought there had to be a better way than locking back the chamber, sitting the gun barrel pointed up (chimney effect) and waiting 15-20 minutes.

May be the cheapest way, but we said, "There has got to be a way to do this quickly and also with some flare!"

As a side note, this system can be fired in both single shot and semi-auto mode. It utilizes an adjustable JP gas block and future versions will have a small hole drilled out in the chassis for which an extended control knob will be located.

The user will be able to adjust the gas on the fly with nothing more than their fingers.
 
I've had people in competitions ask me of its capability so far.

I only have access to about 250 yards - for which I can easily place 3 shots together that a quarter can cover. This in itself is not really all that much of a feat by our rifle.

I have arranged to have industry bloggers/shooters take this thing to the edge when it is ready and find its limitations. I won't be doing this testing simply because my skills as a shooter (no formal training, never taken a class) will falter and fail long before the rifle's capabilities will.

We will share the data when it is available. I have learned a harsh lesson that it is better for people to be antsy on info yet to come, then put out bad data and have them really go ballistic. (no pun intended I swear!)

I have had some invitations to 1000 yard unlimited class comps when I am ready to accept them and have a shooter to rep us.

We also have arrangements with The Truth About Guns and The Firearm Blog to get some demo units in the future and share all the good and the bad in an uncensored (which I was adamant about) write up for the world to see.
 
Innovation is great. Innovation is also almost always scorned at its advent. Regardless of how this whole thing works out, I think it's great that you're doing it and that you have had a good attitude about criticism.
 
Thanks. I guess if I could get people to understand one thing, that would be the definition of a prototype; but this has also opened my eyes as to why a lot of manufacturers will not share a lot of info prior to production models.
 
Does the cooling system actually touch the barrel or is it still a floated barrel? Maybe this is classified info?
 
The entire setup is free float, chassis and all - I don't have anything I am willing to announce regarding the cooling system because we are still tinkering with various ideas.

If I mentioned what we were working at this very point and time it would take forever to get people to chill if that changes for whatever reason.
 
I enjoyed the pics - but what would be really helpful is simply the specs (that your are able to release, given that it's a prototype....) and what very specific goals it was built to meet (once again within constraints).

Currently is weighs about 29.5lbs with no magazine or attachments. This will change soon, by a big chunk, but the setup will never be light - the protection for the internals and the forward compensation aspect simply require strong materials or purposeful weight.

This particular model has a total length of 47-49" (based on the PRS adjustments).

The barrel itself accounts for 27" of this total.

The chassis and its components are made from good ol' American steel. The heaviest of the common materials, but also the cheapest for prototyping.

We have plans to create one in aircraft grade aluminum alloy and even one in a polymer/plastic type material if someone was so inclined to sacrifice some of the metal benefits for huge weight loss.

We have all sorts of things planned for testing.

Titan, the more that I see that gun the more it grows on me. I would love to put some rounds downrange with one of those things sometime!

Nothing recent. The older footage from 6 months ago is just generic and doesn't really demonstrate anything other than its ability to not explode in the users face.

Me too. The more I look at it and consider the possibilities, the more I really want to thwap that thing up on the bench, hook it up to some whirring machine and watch everyone's jaw drop. Hopefully it makes a little hum of power when it's on. I don't really care if it shaves off a fraction of a minute from the groups. It *looks* like it's ready to blow away Imperial Walkers.

That makes me wonder about one in a big fifty upper, where there's also a need to bleed off a lot of extra heat.
 
We really want to get our hands on one of these guys (pic below) - but with a nearly $5,000 price tag - can't justify the expense currently.

In reality the entire system can easily be retrofit to any caliber AR system with very minor changes.
 
You put up with a lot of shiste while building that, as seen on on these forums.

But damn is it sexy. Looks like something out of District 9.
 
Learning experience.

When I started out I wanted to please everyone and address every single concern, no matter how retarded (for lack of a better description) it was or if it had been stated 50 times before.

Then I hosted a fundraiser to build our budget back up and the amount of money that came in pretty much floored me. It taught me that the people who are actually interested simply don't make themselves heard on the internet. They show far more restraint than I did. These guys who are obnoxious trolls pretty much are the bottom 1% of the community.

Sadly that 1% is louder than the 99% of everyone else when it comes to hiding behind a monitor.

What a crazy adventure it has been so far.
