Check out Clint Smith's new video on the Mossberg Shockwave:

Pretty much blows the whole "useless for self defense" notion of these guns out of the water. Clearly, with practice and technique, the Mossberg Shockwave can be a very effective personal defense weapon. I think it would make a great gun for a camper or RV or inside of small homes or apartments where space is at a premium.

Just thought I'd share. I have a Shockwave that should arrive at my dealer's place Monday.

Wilson arms
built a version of this back in the 70,s for the US Marshals service and named it witness protection....they also taught this same technique for firing, pushing it out when firing....They were short lived when UZI exported their first subguns and the Feds went to them........

I have always felt a pg shotgun was a devastating weapon for cqb. I know there are those here who disagree. But my main go to is first my 38 which is just a means to keep them at bay till I can reach my cruiser. I have shot my cruiser plenty and feel it to be the best means to resolve a threat In my home.

Got it!

Compared to my 870P, it is REALLY short and handy!! Feels good. Feeds well with dummy rounds. Fit and finish aren't great but it was less than $400 so not complaining. Looks to be a lot of fun, can't wait to shoot it soon!

I'm guessing the fad factor will keep it at or over MSRP for awhile.

I paid under $400 by pre-ordering at Bud's Gun Shop. I had to wait a few extra weeks from when they first started showing up at local dealers, but I saved quite a bit over what some paid for them. Also shipping was free and the FFL rate at my local shop is low since I'm a member there. :)

All this without an sbr?

You probably meant to post SBS, but it is neither. If fits into what the BATFE calls a 'firearm' per the GCA.

What bothers me from the letter, "Please note that if the subject firearm is concealed on a person, the classification in regards to the NFA may change."

So it may suddenly become a unregistered SBS if you put it under you overcoat? SMH...........

Yeah sbs. But I always get worried about dancing that line as the first one to interpret the law is the cop who decides he needs to run you down. Then it's up to the judge to pass a ruling all the while you may be busting rocks.

So you think a cop will bust you, and a DA will accept charges for something that you can buy at a local gun shop, made by a reputable manufacturer and the BAFTE has determined to be within the law??? Carry a copy of the letter with you, that is what most of us who own NFA items do and don't have any issue with LEO.

I can be a bit paranoid about some things, this is not one of them.

I agree. The gun came with a little supplemental pamphlet in addition to the normal manual explaining what the gun is. I plan to keep it in a document protector and carry it with me wherever the firearm goes.

That's prolly the best course. Our legal system is a bit screwy down here. That should resolve it pretty cleanly though.

You need to stop screwin' around and get you one! All kidding aside, I've had mine in my hands nearly all day. It is so short and nifty! Handles well. All reports are very positive that the raptor grip helps absorb recoil. Clint agrees in the above video. I plan to probably use reduced-recoil 9 pellet 00 buck for defensive use.

I also bought an OPSol Mini-Clip to reliably use Aguila minishells:

Here is the shotgun with 8+1 mini Aguila buckshot rounds and the OPSol Mini-Clip installed. Each shell contains seven #4 buck pellets and four #1 buck pellets for a total of 11 pellets at approx. 1200 FPS. Decreased recoil and increased magazine capacity over standard 2 3/4" buckshot loads. Effective for sure!

This photo really helps. Thanks. I can think of enough examples where this niche weapon would work well. Sadly, they are forbidden in CA.
