Among my other projects I've been attempting to finish, I've been picking away at a series of field knives that are very tough and capable, but juuuust slip in under the limit that service members may carry in garrison.

The first one went to a very special lady who is now serving in Afghanistan, and featured a spear point.

This one is a bit more aggressive looking, with a clipped point and beveled swedge. (Not sharpened.)

3/16" W2 steel, OD canvas Micarta handles with black liners and black micarta pins. Flat Dark Earth KG Gun Kote finish. Blade is just under 4".

Man that is way kewl! Now I see why Stephan made his new series that size too. Remember I want one of those Shirley types sharpened clip points done in the Style of the brown Micarta Camp Defender you made me. You know there is just enough flat spine to pound on if one had to! If the edges are treated like the Camp Defender then it won't tear up the thing you pound with ect.

I like the blade, but I have tried a few with that grip and they just didn't feel secure with wet hands hacking at a target.

I've finally gotten around to making a few more of the original version of these:

This batch is in 3/16" 52100, heat treated by Lee Oates. Handles are canvas micarta, with black canvas micarta pins.

3-1/4" Natural Canvas Micarta, Deep Flat Black Gun Kote

4" Green Canvas Micarta, Flat Dark Earth Gun Kote

I've shifted the handle design a bit to be slightly more hand-filling, but these are designed to be compact, very useful knives.

I'm really liking the natural canvas/black blade combination, Sam.

That would work well on the Farm or Ranch as it does in the Sand box.

Wow, very reasonably priced. Gotta keep you in mind for a Father's Day gift for my dad.
