I don’t like them. I bought one for my S&W 442 years ago. It was kind of weird putting the gun in my front pocket with snug jeans. With loose jeans it was okay except the darn gun slid out of my pocket onto the dining room floor. Thank goodness that happened at home and not in public. I tried clipping it inside my waist band (IWB) and I couldn’t find a comfortable position for the gun.
I gave the thing away.

I had a couple clip draws on j frames. I usually used them IWB at 4:00 position. They tended to ride up and out when i was moving around, so I quit using them and sold them off. I also switched to using semi auto's as my concealed carry gun since they conceal better for me.

There is also the Clip Grip if you want a similar option

I used something similar to what Ohen links to (not by Desantis though) for a little while. I carried it at about 2:00 until one day it turned up missing. I had squatted down to clear snow from under the tires and the act of squatting pushed it up and out. I was lucky to find a rent-to-buy shop that had a mine detector for beachcombers, otherwise I'd have had to wait for spring to find the gun.

Like Ohen and the Colonel, used these (that replaced the right grip), and never much cared for it. The one I had was plastic, and cheaply made. Replaced it with a thin leather IWB w/clip, or an Alabama kydex for the pocket.

I tried one. And right or wrong, I didn't care for it because I didn't feel my gun was secure enough. Besides, I'd been carrying my handgun (whichever one it was) in a real holster with a thumb snap tucked behind my right hip for probably 30 years before I tried a clip draw.
For that matter, while I now have an IWB holster for my Glock G19, I still carry it in an OWB holster tucked behind my right hip. I could, but after 55 years of carrying a handgun, I just don't see any reason to change how I carry it.

A classic. Even DeSantis makes one to this day. Have known a few people who use them.
Tried it long ago, not my cup of tea. Not secure enough, gun gets caught on the draw, doesn't fit in a pocket very well, grip feels weird. YMMV.
If you want to go gangsta without a holster, this may or may not be better than a bunch of rubber bands wrapped around the grip.

I guess I’m in the minority here. I have a J frame with the Clip Draw (Desantis) and like it. I will say that the only way it works for me is about the 12:30-1 position. Belly tends to lock it in and it won’t go anywhere. Anyplace else and it will slip up and out.

I had a Barami Hip Grip on a Colt Cobra for a very short while, took it off before I actually carried the gun out slide of the house. Not secure enough for street carry.

I used the Barami Hip Grip for about a year, went to a holster for about 2 years with Hogue grip and the ATI grip, but recently went back to the Barami. I really like the low profile of the Barami, where the grip sits, and ease of draw.
I thought they were not grippy enough, I wrapped them in aggressive grip tape. I did each individual piece, so it looks like its made that way from the factory. I didnt just wrap the tape around after install. Huge difference for carry and function.

I have a Barack hip grip on my Smith model 34(22 kit gun), Smith model 38(Bodyguard), and Charter Arms 44 Bulldog. I have a Clip Draw (or some similar name) on one of my 1911 45s. I like them. I remember an article by Claire Reese saying he used a hip grip on a Smith 22 kit gun.

I've been using a Barami Hip Grip in combination with a Tyler T-grip for a very long time. It's ideal for hot weather or when I need to wear a suit and don't want to bother with a gunbelt and holster.

Which is why I recommend carrying a gun and holster combo all day at home before using the combo out in public.

First of all, we are talking about a "system" that is INSIDE THE WAISTBAND.
I guess you could wear such thing in between your belt and your pants. But I don't think that's supposed to be the idea of what this concept is about.
A carry system that relies on GRAVITY as its main form of retention is going to result in GRAVITY being the cause of failure at some point.
There are any number of inexpensive minimalist holsters these days. The DeSantis "sticky" pocket holster is very effective at retaining the gun and also concealing it. Available in sizes that will accomodate every pistol you would ever consider carrying in a pocket.
I'm going to guess that if your wardrobe accomodates a stuff-it-in-the-waistband sort of carry, you have room there for a holster too. Lots of men's pants have some stretch in the waist these days. Take advantage of it with some sort of holster.
