Done.

Dang! We're getting spanked... for now.

Do the recent shooting rampages
highlight the need for more gun
control?

The premise of the poll question seems to be that there is a need for gun control and recent events simply highlight that need. What BS.

Dang! We're getting spanked... for now.

Yeah... until they actually try to take them away.

I'm not entirely sure how more gun control will stop people from being psycho... but then again, I'm preaching to the choir here.

I don't get it. If people were armed (like in Israel) they could have stood a chance and minimized the casualties. The person who fires the first shots will always be able to kill someone, but if people start to fight back immediately after the shots are fired it's better than nothing. Gun control? Why? Some people never get it. I think of it as common sense.

I thought there was already a law against shooting people.

More laws will surely solve these things huh?

I mean, it's not like this ever happens with knives right? It's just guns..... if there were no guns this stuff would stop.

DENDERMONDE, Belgium — Two children and an adult were killed and 12 others slashed in a knife attack at a day care center in western Belgium on Friday.

Well the problem with that Poll is that they've asked the question in a way that is just about guaranteed to be a looser for our side. Plus the emotions of the whole thing are gonna skew it.

It says "Do the recent shooting sprees highlight the need for more gun control?" Well if you do not read that very carefully even one of us might vote yes because, let's face it, these tragic acts do certainly "highlight gun control" right...because we all think "Oh no...gun control is going to come up again" and they all think "Oh no...guns are at it again".

So if that were to be a scientific poll question it would need to be worded something like this "Do you believe gun control would have prevented these two recent shooting?" or "Do you believe gun control reduces the amount of violent crime"?

Of course, heaven forbid somebody should bias a question our way and ask it "Do you think deranged individuals would abide by any gun control legislation if enacted"? Now there's a question that may not even be biased now that I've seen it in print, and might get some useful results.

I do find it ironic that two out of the three latest shootings (the Illinois minister and the German one) are in places with pretty significant gun control already.

Aren't guns already hard to obtain in Germany? Why would more gun restrictive laws prevent this? I say more people need to be armed instead of being hopeless bystanders.

Matrix187. Its not about common sense, its all about control. And they want to control everything.

Voted... It will have a great impact. the last one of these threads I did the old copy and paste and put it on three other forums and we ended up winning against about the same percentages.

I hit it.

And yes, Germany has strict gun control. Probably not as strict as Chicago Illinois which is in the USA which has the Constitution which has the Second Ammendment...but strict.

One can, I believe own a gun but there are permits, tests, registrations, inspections, restrictions galore on just about everything...except, oddly enough suppressors which are perfectly legal to use by anyone who can otherwise own a gun. Here, we have real for sure "suppressor control"...which I would prefer to gun control...but still odd.

Didnt you know guns walk around and kill people.
When will the sheepe learn?

The anti-gunners are winning this poll right now, but maybe we should remind our elected officials that the US is a Constitutional Republic, which translates as a nation ruled by law, as opposed to a Democracy, which translates as rule by majority and which always leads to a societal breakdown and a totalitarian government. Democracy sounds wonderful until you stop and think what it really it means. The laws change at the whim of the people, and it results in mob rule and a total suppression of all rights.
Our Constitution is set in stone, as far as I'm concerned. The Constitution and Bill of Rights are very carefully thought out documents which are designed to preserve the rule of law and prevent mob rule in the US. If things get hot for the 2nd Amendment let's remind those who represent us just who they represent and what their job is. It's not changing laws to suit people who are functioning on nothing but fear and who will do permanent damage to our nation rather than think things through. Germany has strict anti-gun laws and they just had a horrible mass murder there. No one is telling anti-gun people they have to go out and buy a gun, and they have no right to tell any law-abiding citizen they cannot buy one. Our Constitution says that!

Keep going people...almost 100 people voted NO in the last 15 minutes. The yes votes are now below 74%.

We can affect this poll!!!

I tried posting a comment on the CNN board... it might take an act of Congress to get approved though.

I am amazed at how many of the commenter's have their heads deeply planted in their #%$#%#
