Co-Sponsor Of Bill Banning Magazines Demonstrates She Doesn't Know What They Are

I agree, this is just one example of politicians making laws or changes that the have no @#X! idea about. We have some of the dumbest people trying to run and manage some of the worlds most complex issues with very complicated cause and effect results.

IMO, the housing bust was the same thing. Government relaxes standards for lending while still buying (guaranteeing) the loans. This took away accountability for who could get a loan. Sorry to go off topic.

Wow, just imagine if they (or anyone else) screwed up like this on an issue like abortion or gay rights! Mixed up "miscarriage" and "abortion" or called a "fetus" a "tumor" by accident! It seems very few media outlets have the slightest inclination to deliver any information about guns whatsoever, which is why they end up focusing so much on the murder aspect (they'll mention guns constantly, but only in passing and with little detail or useful information).

It's like a phobia, or something. "First rule of guns; don't talk about guns." There are very few "taboos" left that the news outlets aren't afraid to dive head-first into, so their refusal to properly research an "item" (not even an issue) possessed by 1/3rd of the country is extremely strange to me. It's not like finding basic gun info isn't as easy as a Wiki search, but they still screw it up, and yet they manage to research important figures of Turkish dance costume design for NPR stories.

Any ideas? It's too odd for even some goofy conspiracy to properly explain.

Not limited to firearms, either.

Not limited to firearms, either.

Remember the member of the House's Science and Technology Committee who thought a violently raped woman cannot get pregnant?

The hostess on National Public Radio's "Fresh Air" program did not know that 2x4s do not actually measure 2" x 4". I knew that by the time I was 11 years old (I was a late bloomer).

Ignorance CAN be cured. Stupidity is forever.

But learning takes work and the ignorant have to WANT to be educated.

The cure? Impeach or vote the stupid out of office and cost the ignorant for their failings (to give them incentive to learn).

Good luck with that....

I swear, every time I turn around these fools really do live up to the moniker liberal.

Heck our President thought we had 57 states and there was that congress woman who asked if the Mars Rover would be able to take pictures of the flag that the astronauts left up there.
We are screwed.

DeGette: "You'd probably be dead anyway..."

This lovely exchange is also making the rounds, from the same event. The quote is so amazing and irresponsible I considered making this a whole separate thread...

source: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-senior-citizen-youd-probably-be-dead-anyway/

“My question is: What about me?” the Denver citizen asked Rep. DeGette, arguing against limiting magazine capacity. “There may not be one bad guy that comes into my house… I have to change magazines? I am a serious disadvantage.”

“What about me?” he repeated.

After arrogantly smirking at his question, DeGette replied: “The good news for you, you live in Denver. The [Denver Police Department] would be there within minutes.”

“You’d probably be dead anyway if they had that kind of firepower,” she added.

In other words, when seconds count, the PD will be there in minutes, so just lay down and die.

I sure hope you folks in Colorado remember this when she's next up for re-election.

That is worse than McCarthy's infamous "shoulder thing that goes up" response.

I just saw her spokesman's "clarification." BWAHAHAHaHAHAHA. That is even funnier, because they had time to sit around and thing about it and try to come up with some way to spin it and then make the exact same error. Wow, just wow.

Julliet Johnson clarifying the congressman's remarks

“The Congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years, and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,' which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism,” Johnson said. “Quite frankly, this is just another example of opponents of common-sense gun violence prevention trying to manipulate the facts to distract from the critical issue of keeping our children safe and keeping killing machines out of the hands of disturbed individuals. It’s more political gamesmanship that stands in the way of responsible solutions.”

I saw it was re introduced with her BFF Carolyn McCarthy... did anyone else post this yet?

I just cant stop watching it....

/Shoulder thing that goes up
Holy crap! I can't stop laughing. It's like watching a train wreck...can't...look...away...

I have to laugh at this kind of ignorance just to keep my sanity. How in the world do these people get elected to office!? This kind of stuff just makes me speechless...how can you vote on or introduce legislation that bans something when you have absolutely no clue what you are even banning. I have to go do something else now...watching people like this just makes me feel depressed for the human race...so so sad.

Somebody forward this stuff to Hannity...maybe if he makes this woman look like a complete tool on national television, then I'll feel better lol.

Oh geeze Girodin...they pulled the. " why won't anyone think of the children" crap again.

So they are saying that when they show a total lack of understanding for items they are trying to legislate, that those with actual knowledge should just pipe down and let them do what they want. This is willful ignorance, the kind which is dangerous to a free state. The lunatics are running the asylum in some of these states.

That Congress woman could be mildly hypoxic.
Keep her away from any 'walkaround' oxygen bottle and maybe she will be recorded making other similar statements.

But the mass media already ignores Joe Biden's numerous comical comments, but look at how they harshly attacked a mis-spelled word (on a card) spoken by Senator Dan Quayle many years ago.

Good luck with that....

Luck has nothing to do with it. INVOLVEMENT does. Start with the local politics, where you can make a difference ---- and be noticed by party politicians. Then you get to meet your state-wide representatives and occasionally your Senators and House members. Then YOU get their ear for just a minute. Or longer if you speak well.

The world is run by those who show up.

Educate her.

Maybe if we educate her.

Tell her that 30 round magazines take 3 times as long to stick in the gun, therefore are actually less lethal than 10 round mags. Maybe she will sponsor a bill outlawing magazines that hold less than 30 rounds.

You would think that she (or the lobbyists who are pulling her puppet strings) who want to outlaw stuff would think it worthwhile to educate themselves about the issue.

On the other hand, maybe we don't want that. If they had a brain, they might be dangerous.

Rant mode: Off.
