Coffee (yes I mean hunting related coffee)

Back in the early 90's I used to have a personal New Years Day ritual of dressing warm and hiking alone up in the Shawangunk ridge in Ulster County, NY. I'd usually have either my SKS or my Enfield with me...and a thermos full of hot coffee spiked with a little brandy. I did it for like 6 years in a row, no matter the weather, and even if there was a family gathering planned it would have to wait. I squeeze off like 30 rounds here and there. There were old mines and lots of junk to shoot at. But it never would have been the same without the spiked coffee. I made sure I didnt overdo it, just a warm tingle in my nose.

Its good, I think its a legit company with as you said people like a lot of us. They have quite a few varieties. I started with a subscription that sent a random bag every 2 weeks. Found the one I liked best and stuck with it.

A lot of their line is gun themed like AK espresso and silencer smooth. The one called "just black" is my favorite, its a nice medium.

I'll have to try the sub thing, I don't drink much so a small bag to try is nice. I'm surprised they have so many types. I like the darker stuff.

So which brands of ground coffee do you guys bring with you during hunting trips?
I use coffee beans from sprouts. It's the only reason I go there.
My favorite is called Hilander Grog. It tastes like a peaty Scotch without the alcohol.
Another brand I like is Kicking horse coffee. It is also beans.
The deer don't care about smoke, coffee, or pee. I shot my biggest buck right after I peed and poured myself another cup of coffee. It was only 40 yards away.

At our farm "hunting camp" we have an antique hand crank coffee grinder mounted on the kitchen wall. It's a little high so kids stand on chairs to reach it. A rather competitive race to see who gets to grind the coffee for Grandpa's breakfast......looser has to cook the bacon. Either way I win, fresh hot coffee and the smell of bacon in the morning.:)

I’m sure it’s good coffee. The local sprouts near me has the proper no guns signs. They don’t get my business.

I’m your neighbor just south of you.
It could be the store manager "forgot" to put the sign up.
Either way, I'm happy it isn't there.
Now back to the topic.
How many of you dilute the coffee?
If I'm sitting in the stand, is black. If I'm planning on hiking a lot. I add about a tablespoon of honey per cup.
It gives me an energy boost that coffee doesn't.

Honey in coffee is great. Especially at the end. Then again I put honey on a lot of things.

You can also check out Molasses as well, if you enjoy unique flavor. Come to think of, I do have a jar of Molasses in my cabinet, but I not going to brew a pot coffee at 4:15 pm, I want to sleep tonite...
That does give it a unique flavor.
I can drink coffee and fall asleep doing it. I wasn't blessed with getting energy from caffeine.

Old Navy habit. Straight black and if you can’t stand the spoon up in it it’s not strong enough. No cream in the engine room of a ship two weeks into a four month cruise, and midway thru a mid watch the stuff has cooked down to sludge. :(
