Phrasing might need work, I am just trying to come up with a message which takes where Heston's left off.

    For the final line:

"A newer generation uses newer tools"

"Not everyone is so politically correct"

At the bottom, how about something to the effect of 'The 2nd Amendment includes modern arms, too.'

"The Second Amendment gives you the right to bear modern arms, just as the First Amendment gave me the right to make this poster on a computer instead of an oil painting."

"The Right to Keep and Bear Arms includes modern arms, just like Freedom of Speech includes telephones and email."

"The only 'cold, dead hands' will be the ones that try to take this."

"A musket was the state of the art personal firearm for its time. We must accept nothing less now."

"You will not steal my preciousssssss...." Sorry. An LOTR joke was mandatory.

"I know that he meant well, but I like this one better."

Feel free to use any or all of these. Tweak and/or correct as you see fit.

    Hmmmm.

Why not just "From My Cold Dead Hands" and a modern weapon?

Says it all -- and isn't divisive except insofar as the politically-incorrect weapon is divisive.

A good man once held a musket and said "from my cold dead hands"
The millions followed and said "from my hot and smoking barrel"

    or

    Bottom caption:
It may be time to pass the torch, but I'll bring my own weapon.
    or
The principle remains the same, but I'll upgrade my hardware.
    or
    "Welcome to the 21st Century"

I don't know, this is a good poster, it just needs that perfect catchy slogan to go along with it.

"Take up today's version of that musket."

    or

"Choose to bear the successor to that musket."

Elmer Snerd has some good ideas. Maybe some more posters?
For this one, I like Greg L's lines except that I would omit the so from the final line.
Oleg, You really have the gift.

I love what you are doing!
Please consider doing an additional alternate poster.
In this one, the user is holding an M1.

How about a few words from the amendment itself:

The Right if the People to keep and Bear arms shall NOT be Infringed.

How about a muted silhouette colonial - same pose somewhat behind, high, and off-set some?

No words - or - only FMCDH!!

Replace the AR with an Ak and I'm sure it's like some communist poster.

    You would have Russell Means.

How about if you just divide your poster right under the FMCDH line, so the AR appears above the "Choose modern weapons" text?

With existing phrasing, you'll need some commas:

    Once, a man...

    cold, dead

That said, the final line might make its own nice poster:

Fight not to make a last stand.
    Fight to win.
