I read somewhere that Colt made a 6 shot cylinder for the 1849. Improved metallurgy enabled a 5 shot ,36 so I am assuming a later version had a 6 shot .31. Anyone know?
Your kidding aren’t you. The gun is nickel plated I thinkFingers, King of the SS Colts,
For a stainless revolver that one is kinda dirty!
Kevin
Prove it!I just acquired an original Colt 1849 Pocket .31 caliber revolver with 6-shot cylinder
Here are a few of my 6 shot Pocket Models.
I wish these dozen or so I just acquired were in as good condition as yours are... but I plan to clean and restore them all as best as possible so I can eventually fire them one day!
Maybe it has come back from the dead, but we can never get enough of that revolver pictured in post #4.Zombie thread alert
I too have Parkinson's and what an adventure it was this morning casting some balls. Were you exposed to agent orange? Anyway I know I'm off topic here, just curious.I kwow what you mean. I'm pushing 70 and don't look near as good. Of course, the Parkinson's doesn't help any.
Fingers,
Are those rear sights on the forcing cone end of the barrel ? Can you give us some details if they are like how they are mounted and what if any modifications to the top of the hammer have been made?
I have seen pictures of some "Confederate" guns with such sights and often wondered about them.
