Colt 1892 left wheeler question

I'm looking at an 1892 for parts. However this one has a cylinder with Rinaldo's initials stamped, yet the butt is without markings. Every other service left wheeler I've seen was property marked on the butt. Were some unmarked?

Colt sometime used left-over military parts in commercial revolvers. See what the date of manufacture was on your revolver, in particular if it was made after 1903.

OK, I am rewriting this one. I assume the unmarked butt is what you have as a potential parts gun. That gun has had the butt markings removed at some point, and I think it could be trouble. That was commonly done when someone "borrowed" a gun from the Army and wanted to remove the military markings. If the gun was military, RAC should be on the left frame "knuckle" and under the barrel as well as on the cylinder. If it is a civilian gun, the knuckle should have the rampant colt trademark, but the Colt serial number should be on the butt.

I thought I could see the faint remains of a civilian serial nunber at the front of the butt. Maybe not. If there isn't one, Jim is right.
