I recently picked up a Colt 22 long rifle conversion with the floating chamber. Other than a Colt government model, is there any other 1911 5” that will work? I tried it on a new Charles Daily and it would not function, it was just too tight.

I put my .22 conversion on a T-Sauce, have not fired it yet but slide works

You may have to try some frames to see how they fit. My JA Ceiner .22 conversion would not work on my Ruger frame, but works fine on my Springfield frame.

Stay safe.

Some years ago I had a Colt Ace .22 conversion kit. It worked on a Colt Government frame but reliability was just so-so as well as accuracy not worth writing home about. I got big bucks for it when I traded it in on another gun. Had the original box and paperwork for it.

Had an old Essex frame that I put together from a bunch of spare parts I had. Turned out pretty decently but I wanted .22 conversion for it. Looked around for a nice one by Marvel Precision, Nelson Custom, and Advantage Arms but it seemed like every time I checked they were Out Of Stock on the one I wanted. Finally found one made by TacSol, their 2211 model, and ordered it. Took a bit of work with that old Essex frame but I got it up and running.

That is the nature of the beast. Have a Kimber .22 conversion that, finally, runs on a Gold Cup frame. Tolerance stacking is the bane of these conversions. Finally figured out the poly magazines were dragging on the slide.
Twenty two conversions always seem a good idea. A good idea that doesn't always work out.

My only experience was with the Colt conversion many years ago. My gun dealer buddy told me they were in production again and asked if I wanted one. I told him I knew nothing about them and he offered the one he owned for me to try out. The only 1911 I owned was a Gold Cup Nation Match and we put his conversion on it and I spent the weekend shooting it. It gave no problems and was accurate but I passed on buying one. I didn't feel like I had the funds right then to spend on one even if I did get everything at his cost. After some years had passed I came to regret not going ahead with the purchase. With all the different brands of 1911's made today and the tolerance differences I have no idea of how well the Colt conversion unit will work. I consider it a try and see thing.

I have a SIG conversion that fits and runs perfect on a Gov 1911 and SIG C3. SIG bough German Sport Guns (GSG) and starting selling the kit under the SIG name in a SIG plastic box. It's been 100% with any brand 22LR I've tried.
