I have an old pistol that i inherited. I would like to find when it was built and if it has any value. It has a sn # of 38751. The condition is fair, it has black grips with the colt name and what looks like a horse on a c on the bottom.

It looks like the first one except for the grips. They have an elongated letter c with horse standing up in the center.

That would be pre 1923 manufacture Colt 1908. They are very reliable and if the fire blue on the trigger and safety are vivid and everything else pretty are worth more than $400

As Gordon said - It's a COLT 1908 commonly called the "Vest Pocket' .25ACP.

Your SN falls in the 1910 mfgr range.

As to value... Condition and orginality are EVERYTHING.
