Thx Rock! Thought so but just not very familiar with those outside the standard Mark series Troopers, never shot a Border Patrol and didn’t know for certain that was assoc. with the Trooper generations. More of a S&W guy but no excuses other than pleading ignorance . I imagined there may have been some finish differences and maybe more basic than the fine mkIII.

The Second Issue Border Patrol was just the Trooper Mark III with a slightly lesser polished blued finish or a bright nickel finish.
Usually the grips were made of a lesser quality of walnut.
Otherwise they were straight Trooper Mark III's with the Border Patrol barrel stamp.

Unlike the First Issue Border Patrol which was a modified Official Police, the Second Issue was also sold as a commercial gun.
A number were bought by individual police or police departments due to the slightly lower cost over the Trooper Mark III.
Genuine US Border Patrol versions will have USBP stamps on the right side of the frame.

There were 5,356 made in blue, 1,152 in bright nickel.

Here's some info...........
