I shot consistently high today, just off hand no bracing.

158gr Winchester LRN, 158gr Fiocchi JHP

It has been a while since I shot a DA revolver. My initial targets were awful. For a 38, the flatter trigger I felt like I was 'reaching for'.. that 1/4 inch of longer frame makes a huge difference in feel.

Settled in at 7 yards. Single action, pairs and double action rapid fire.

Best single and double action targets. I shot no +p ammo but I will.

Single action, 12 shots 7 yards LRN's.

Double action, 12 rounds, one went way high at 12, one at 5 o'clock

I'm sure it will get better, but surprisingly that is much better than a lot of shooting I've seen at public ranges. You are already in the man stopping catagory

All pistol shooting takes a lot of practice to remain competent. My auto pistol targets were much better.

You will like the Cobra. IMHO the DA trigger is really nice for a snubby and the red hi viz makes quick sighted shots easy.

Keep it up, you’re doing fine!

Stay safe!

I can shoot a lot better than that, doing it with THIS revolver will take some time.

agreed, practice makes the groups more consistent and smaller. it is obvious that you have all the shooting basics down pat! nice shootin

Forgive my ignorance; does this mean you shot one-handed or two-handed (Weaver stance or similar?)

My point of impact is always higher if I shoot one-handed—more muzzle flip.

Need to work on my DA shooting. More 38 ammo on the way to my house. Every load fired a bit high with a center hold.
While I prefer 158 gr bullets in a 38 or 357, you could try some 125s. It aught to bringvthat POI down a bit.

Or maybe Speer 135 gr short barrel.

I'm with 460Shooter: try a lighter bullet with an higher velocity. You can also try a six o'clock aiming. Many manufacturers choose the six o'clock sights set up for their guns and Colt could be one of those.

I am using a 6 o'clock hold. The Cobra's sights are supposedly regulated for 158 gr.

You may be holding the fiber-optic front sight a bit proud in the rear sight? Try burying it a tad more and check the results. Mine is fairly well-regulated at 25 feet for 158 grain lead standard pressure loads.

Both of my new Cobras shoot to POA with 158 grain bullets. A bit low with 125’s so I carry 158 grain loads. I love the double action trigger pull. Very smooth. The top one is the 2017 model with DA/SA and red hi viz sight and is my EDC gun around the property, loaded with Speer snake shot and Buffalo Bore 158 grain hard cast SWC Outdoorsman loads. The 2018 Night Cobra with DAO and tritium night sight is my dress up go to town gun and is loaded with 158 grain JHP. Cobras kicked my J-Franes to the curb.

Generally shoot mine with my reloads, but factory 158s print perfectly. Absolutely love this little gun. But I'm a Colt guy anyway so what would you expect. Superb trigger for a snubbie, better than many larger guns.

It is true, many people misunderstand how front fiber sights are usually setup and used. They aren't red-dot sights. The fiber isn't usually supposed to be precisely where the bullet "lands" - that's still at the top of the front sight. The dot is used for fast shooting where being 1-2" high is not a concern and to help be a reference point... but not the aim point itself for precise shooting.

Colt Cobra owners ,, I understand these new production Cobras sport steel frames .. Weight 25oz . Basically Ruger SP101 size and weight, but offer 6 sot of 38Spl +P ..
