Mine's a 1980 build. Love it. Put a Wilson beavertail on it and I really love it. That grip safety bite was nasty after a long range session. No more.

I've owned, carried and fired many commanders over the years: .45 primarily but .38sup & 9mm, too. I've had satin nickle and blue, both combat commander and aluminum commander. The only one I kept is a .45 combat commander worked over by King's Gun Works. It has nice King/Tappan sights. Nothing special; just an old series 70.

doesn't make any difference, but....

Just for the record, Colt never made any Series 70 Commander pistols. They are known pre-series 80 guns. Only the Government sized pistols were known as Series 70. :) Google Works

My favorite Colt Combat Commander, part of a limited edition run from the Colt Custom Shop. Features included a bright nickel plated finish, Gold Cup trigger, MMC rear sight, and tuned and accurized for optimum performance.

I have a 9mm 1951 SN 62XX A 45 Combat Commander from 1972 bought new and a LTW Commander from 1990's

I don't carry the 9mm any more age and value
