I just got a used Colt Defender, anybody have holster suggestions that they used? I like carrying IWB, but never tried leather. How’s a leather holster feel?

Yes
I use a Desantis SofTuck.
I like them well enough to have one for each of my carry guns.

I dont see a pic of my 1911, but here is a couple others, so you can see what it looks like.
I wear my shirts tucked in. This holster has a j-hook that goes over your pants waistband and hooks under your belt. Very discrete.
Thin suede is comfortable and tends to stay put.
My only complaint is that they don't have a sweat shield.

Less than $35.

thanks for the suggestions! I like kydex because it’s very easy to re-holster. I holster and re-holster several times a day. I wonder if they make a small holster that’s leather but stiff like kydex???

I have several SofTucks and they're a good value if you're OK with zero passive retention without a cinched belt. Using public restrooms cured me of using my SofTucks. Other's have different "procedures" and it may be fine for them.
I have a couple of all leather High Noon IWB that look nice, but take a bit more work to reholster. My current favorite is Hidden Hybrid. Holsters easily, good retention, secure on my belt and tucks nicely.

I like paying for quality, some of my holster are $100+ but they are all kydex. I want to try leather with a 1911! I’ll take a look at my k at the Hidden Hybrid

Yes, I had a kydex custom from www.squaredaway.com. they are great for quickness in and out of the holster.

You might look into a crossbreed supertuck. Leather/kydex combination. I have one for my sr9c. It is comfortable and tuckable.
OK with zero passive retention without a cinched belt.
My britches would be around my ankles in three steps if I didn’t wear a good belt.
I dont have any retention issues with the SofTuck. I do wish they had a sweat shield. I want it bad enough that I may alter my 1911 SofTuck holster and add one. The hammer/beavertail/safety gets pretty bitey on the love handles.

Horsehide is often referred to as natures kydex.

Kramer probably makes a horsehide leather holster for your gun https://www.kramerleather.com

Most of the better leather IWB holsters have a reinforced mouth, typically lined with a steel band, that keeps the holster from collapsing when the gun is drawn.

Ritchie's Stakeout is not reinforced, but should not collapse http://www.ritchieholsters.com/catalog/p-100002/stakeout

they also have the RO http://www.ritchieholsters.com/catalog/p-100015/ro-rough-out

There are a lot of other options as well.

Here a video from the late Paul Gomez on choosing concealed carry gear that may be helpful. He likes leather for holsters and kydex for mag pouches.

my favorite holster maker is RedHill tactical for USPSA and I bought 2 of their IWB kydex. Good stuff.

Just looking for classy but tactical carry. Something that say’s “I’m rich because I carry a Colt”... I know I know.... just in that kindda carry mood
