This table top and range review is long overdue. This pistol has been returned to Colt for accuracy and machine marks inside the slide, which delayed the video. Unfortunately Colt said nothing was out of spec and the machine marks were cosmetic and did nothing about it. I asked for a barrel replacement and they would not complete the work saying that could make things worst.

When the Colt Delta Elite Gen II was released I could not wait to get my hands on one, the excitement was off the charts. Upon receiving it and field stripping it I was let down. Due to the machine marks being on the inside of the slide I was willing to over look them until I got it to the range to find out it would not group. I have since fit a Briley bushing — Original bushing OID .698, ID .581 — Barrel OID .579 — Briley bushing after I completed the work ID .580, OID .700, the Briley is a bit tighter than the original to the slide and a little tougher to remove from the slide without the tool. After this work the Colt Delta Elite has proven to be just as accurate as other 10MM pistols which I include in this video as a comparison.

Thank you for your reviews. I've been a fan of 10mm for at least a decade and carry one regularly.

IMO, Colt has been leaning too hard on the pony on the slide for sales. Better options out there for me.

This was extremely difficult on my psyche to make this video. The only thing that got me through this review was my tag line (Firearms Reviewed and Reported On: An unbiased opinion with real world use.) and the end result of me being able to get this pistol shoot fairly well.

With the difficulty that Colt is going through as a company and the families impacted it just makes me sick to my stomach and on top of that an American based company. I am truly pulling for Colt and hoping they can return to the glory days of being the firearms pioneer they once were.

I own several Colt 1911s and they are good pistols. But Colt has not been an innovator in firearms for 100 years now and I am afraid it will continue to struggle for life by living off its past success.

My DE, MK 1, is excellent to me. I don't mind the machining marks inside the slide (actually I have not even looked to see if there is any.)

When I buy a 1911 the first two things I check are the barrel bushing play (with the slide and then with the barrel) and then the rear lockup. If either is in anyway loose I don't buy it. That is where your accuracy is, the lockup.

I'm curious as to why Colts insists on a dual spring system when everyone else uses a single spring at 18 to 22 lbs.
I have a feeling if one of those springs break getting the pistol apart is going to be very difficult.

What???!!! Have you forgotten the Colt 2000, the gun that revolutionized firearms design until the end of time or 2002, whichever came first? If so, good, because Colt really wants everybody to.
