My favorite LGS got 4 of these in last week and I bought this one yesterday. I have been buying and shooting revolvers for 50+ years and right out of the box this one has the best DA trigger of any I have owned. I don't recall ever being this impressed with a revolver. It is very well balanced and fits my hand and shooting style very, very well.
It is very accurate. With 158gr SWC the sights are right on at 25yds. Federal 38sp HST's and my 148gr WC are about an inch high and low, respectively, at 25yds. I'll post pics when I remember to bring a target home.

Night sights on that? Stock grip? I have one that came with a laminate grip.

Did you change the grips? Mine, bought in May of 2020, came with wood grips. I would like to get a set of rubber grips for it, but can’t find them anywhere.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back?

That is the grip it came with. Had it been a wood grip I would have changed it anyway. Maybe Colt was listening to the reviews.

Neat! I haven’t shot a new King Cobra yet but my new model .38 Cobra has an awesome DA and SA trigger pull as well.

If I hadn’t gone all hog-wild on a K-frame kick over the past year or two, a King Cobra and Python would be in the safe instead.

    Stay safe.

Just the opposite here. I have been on a purge the last couple of years. Guns, guitars, golf equipment and bike stuff all reduced drastically. This one I couldn't pass up.

Had one myself for a short while, but traded it for one shortcoming. To get POI to match POA, the rear sight had to be moved way off-center to the right. When I was shooting on lane one at the range, my rear sight was on lane two....

Obviously a factory defect that the factory would have corrected, but I did not care to go through the process. Easier to trade it and move on.

Except for the sight problem, it was a wonderful gun.

I wasn’t aware they changed the sights, or grips...we’ve sold prolly a dozen of them, and they all had laminate grips.

Well, I am so pleased with this one that I went and bought the last one they had. Have never had a pair of matching revolvers. Will be talking to the holster guy this week.

Hello. Late to the party here. Isn't that the Model D you bought with the rubber grips? I just bought a Target model and it came with wooden grips which are slippery and need to be changed out. I've been looking online and can't find rubber grips with the Colt logo like the ones that apparently come with the Model D. Can anyone help me out here?

You can buy Pachmayrs with their medallion and replace it with a Colt medallion. Or you can go with the Altamont grips and have them engrave the Colt name.

Like others, my Target came with wood
grips and a fiber optic front sight.

    On Kidneyboy's specimen, it's obvious
Colt changed his to the bead front
sigfht and rubber grips found on the
    King Cobra 3-inch model.

Like others have found, my King Cobra
Target has the best trigger that I've
ever experienced out of the box and I'm
    a long-time Smith & Wesson DA user.

The fit and finish are impeccable as well.

    I've also gotten a 4-inch Python 2020.
Same story as the King Cobra.

    Kudos to Colt.

Hello Jesse. Thanks for your post. How does one go about getting the Colt medallions? And is it easy to change the medallions on a set of grips? Maybe I'll just call Pachmayr and ask them. Thank you very much.

Here's what I've learned today and just thought I'd share it with all of you. The Hogue grips that come on the 3" King Cobra have the Colt medallion and I'm told they will also fit the 4" Target Model. But you can't find them on the Hogue website so I called them. Nice woman on the phone told me there is a marketing agreement with Colt that prohibits them from selling the grips with the Colt medallion. But she very nicely tells me if I get Colt to send an email to her authorizing her to sell me just one set of grips she would do it no problem. So I call Colt customer service and was told that there is some kind of a conflict between Hogue and Colt's marketing people and until Hogue was willing to quote unquote play ball with them there would be no private sales of Hogue grips with the Colt medallion. So it appears that Hogue is blaming Colt and Colt is blaming Hogue for some kind of internal squabble. So unless Pachmayr comes through for me it looks like the only option is one of those ugly Hogue grips without the Colt medallion. Firing maggies with the wooden grips that came with the King Cobra is just not an option for me. I mean they look great but the functionality just isn't there. It's like they're building these revolvers to look good regardless of how they function at the range. That's my two cents. Actually a whole lot more than two cents but I thought you guys might find this story interesting.
