I posted this in the autoloaders forum but it was suggested that I ask here.

I'm hoping I can get some help before I have to send this gun back to Colt. I have a Mustang that I bought used a couple of weeks ago and I guess I inherited a couple of problems with it. #1 the grip screws are partially stripped, to the point where they will snug up but not tighten enough to hold the grips properly in place, they seem to be a tad short, when I look at them through the other side of the gun it seems that they should be about 1/12 of an inch longer, they are not flush with the inside of the frame.

#2 - the gun is having FTE about one round out of every other mag.

The gun is bright shinny clean so I don't think dirt is the problem. I have replaced the mag springs with Wolff +5% and have replaced the recoil spring and plunger with the Wolff single spring (11lb.) and the steel plunger.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks MUCH

Added info............I have tried three different HP load and all three are having FTE's Federal Hydra Shock, Winchester Ranger HP 95 gr. & Pro Load 90gr HP's

I just took about .030" off of the insides of the grips. That allowed the screws to go in deeper into the frame (still about .005" from being even with the inside of the frame). Now I can get the screws nice and snug!
