These were on the menu during a recent north texas camping trip. the 61 navy is great for collecting rabbits and phrog legs.

Froggy went a-courting

A froggy went a-courting and he did ride,...
A sword and pistol by his side.

Mec, The blast from the Revolver must have kill this one. I don't see no holes
anywhere on the Frog. Mec what kind of ingredients did you guys use and what
kind of a frog is it. I've never eaten frog legs before.

Frog legs via Colt

If you look at the frogs belly, you'll see a hole! Good shooting, sir! I'd give about half my pay for a plate of frog legs:banghead:

Yeh . You picked out the entrance hole. the exit took out the front of his chest. Another one I shot was a lot more messy than this one. those 36 balls over 22 gr/vol of pyrodex p disrupt them enough that they dont get away.

this is the largest bunch of bullfrogs Ive seen in years. They are about gone where I live. A gay -american restauranteer told me that they have frog legs as a regular part of the menu. I asked him where he ever found the fullbrogs and he said they were flown in from Bangladesh.

Bullfrogs by cap and ball

Here in ohio we used to gig'em with a three prong gig...Wish I still had this little pocket navy 31 cal I had about 12 years ago:scrutiny: Hmmm, weather get'n warmer:scrutiny: Lots of bullfrogs nearby:evil:

Man I'd love to have me some froglegs. I've only had 'em once but they sure were good. Any chance of gettin' a recipe for cookin' 'em up posted?

Never thought about using my .36 cal. '51 Navy for frog giggin'. Makes me wonder, anyone ever used one for getting turtles? Wonder what kind of effect the .36 cal. would have on the shell? Never had turtle, but I've wanted to try it.

here's another frog with the damage a bit more evident. entrance under the shoulder and exit through the entire front of the frog. I stuffed the inwards back under the frog to make it a bit more pleasing to the eye

When you shoot them from side to side like the two you posted pictures of, if you use a bullet that's fast or large enough, the shock disrupts the spinal chord even if it isn't directly hit. The only other shot that will also keep them on the bank when hit is to actually shoot the spine in two. Pretty darn good shooting, mec. Those old big frogs won't let you walk right up to them, either.

About recipes, I just roll'em in flour, salt and pepper and fry them. Not much is easier and not much is better!

Steve

pretty close though. 20-25 feet. these frogs had gone unmolested for quite a few frog generations.
