It looks like my travel plans for work will be taking me into Kuwait for a week or two later this month. Anyone know what the concealed carry laws are in that country? I've heard actually that Kuwait is quite strict but given the situation, I wonder if it is really out of the question for a foreigner to be packing. Anyone here think I should just skip the trip entirely? Aside from the danger of death, kidnapping, heat, and losing my job for refusing, it sounds like it would a fascinating trip and in some ways... a very interesting time to go. I wonder where I can get one of those "CNN" don't-shoot-me bullet proof vests....

Thanks in advance for the advice...

I hope you are going with Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Anything else would be a little silly given the current climate.

Unless of course you are after the bounty that is offered on some of the Al Queda chaps.

    Regards,

Without much knowledge of Kuwait, I'd have to say legal CC for a visitor is highly unlikely. Our own country is considered one of the more gun friendly and sometimes you can't legally CC in neighboring states.

Most military units wont allow personal weapons to be with you when you deploy. But then again what they dont know wont hurt. Best to address it with your CO if you think its appropriate.

Every time I flew in to Kuwait it was on military aircraft so I dont know how they handle luggage in the KCIA airport there in Kuwait City.

If your civilian, the choice is yours.

As for the laws in Kuwait. I was there 6 times since 95 and have never seen anyone with a weapon outside of the police.

There are quite a few reports coming out about Americans getting shot at in the news lately. Dont know how you would be treated if you carried a weapon and had to use it in self defense.

After all, concealed correctly no one will know you have it right?

a buddy was stationed in the UAE at a university

he said gun ownership there was strictly controlled
but every family compound was armed with FA weapons

the ruling class could basically do what ever they wanted,
under their protection, so could a visitor

someone freelance had better be able to bribe the police.

Wow. Thanks for all the replies guys. Yeah, I'm a civilian. The reason I asked is because I know there is a strange disparity in the way private ownership there is stricly controlled, and yet the wealthy always have personal guards with automatic weapons. Go figure.
Are there random shootings there at Americans? I was under the impression that since the shooting at the soldiers in November, things have been quiet there... tense but quiet. People from my company have been heading out there for years now without incident....

Consulate... duh, why didn't I think of that? Thanks sixgun....

As a taxpaying american, I feel like I should be able to walk into the American Embassy in Kuwait City, show my passport, and have them issue me an M9..... well, one can dream...
