If you renewed before exp date and it is in process “under review” then your old permit is still valid. Apps are taking all of the 90 with or 120 days without prints and a little longer in many cases. Mine was approved in 125 days and card received a week later.

Here i am, 3 months later still with no response from IL state police. Permit expired sunday (19th) , a fairly well informed friend of mine said my permit is valid if i can prove my paperwork has been submitted - any thoughts? Headed into the dreaded and horrible crook county this morning to buy jewlery for my wife (not bringing cash but will be leaving with valuables) , so i will not be comfortable unarmed but want to stay legal. Illinois is charming.
In IL (or NY, CA, NJ, MA, etc.), I'd be very cautious about carrying concealed in IL without a valid permit IN HAND.

I am a Missouri resident but I have a Florida CCW permit; at the time I applied, it was much easier to get a CCW from Florida than in Missouri if a veteran. I am due for renewal in July and will apply for a MO permit.
I took the safety class for MO years ago with my wife; it was an all day thing but I must say that I enjoyed the legal presentation more than the range time (I already knew I could shoot) - the legalese helped me with my mindset of the great liability and responsibility of carrying a firearm - it was not a waste of time at all for me, I enjoyed the entire class.
I was also able to witness class participants that had an anxious desire to pull the trigger - when asked, shooting someone stealing your lawnmower out of your shed was perfectly appropriate - deadly force for a lawnmower? Again, I can sometimes see the anti’s point.
In my mind, there must be some kind of control on concealed firearms. I understand that degree is key but I like the idea that even a clumsy message is sent by a clumsy government - at least a message that carrying a gun is something important.

(Northern) Illinois is a patchwork of townships and cities that have very different municiple rules that make it difficult to navigate legally if you travel. I live in a far northwest suburb that is inline with the rest of the state. When i head east toward chicago i need to make certain selections in my gear to stay legal and not draw unwanted attention. Its unclear to me if the city of chicago has a magazine capacity regulation, ive lived in illinois 33 of my 35 years of life and can not decode the real laws and don't trust the advice of anyone to keep me on the proper side of the law. So if in cook county i carry a glock 30 with a 9 round mag (no spare mag) a single edged karambit with a 2 inch blade around my neck and a very small flashlight that drops in a pocket. That way i have no pocket clips or other item showing that could indicate i may have the means or ability to defend myself . No nra shirts or hats, no 5.11pants , no boots - gray man.
Works for me. I go east as little as possible, once or twice a year if im lucky.

That's a SAD commentary for a free country. I live in Michigan and go out of my way to avoid Illinois when I travel. We have reason to travel west...I end up traveling thru the Upper Peninsula thru Wisconsin so I can avoid Illinois....NOW that's just sad.

Arizona CCW permits are now valid for five years. To renew your permit simply send in a completed renewalapplication and a $43.00 cashiers check or money order before the 60 day grace period has expired. Ideally you should send in your renewalpacket before your permit expires.

N. An applicant shall demonstrate competence with a firearm through any of the following:

2. Completion of any hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the Arizona game and fish department or a similar agency of another state.

Its just a hoop.

The 2nd means what it says. Fees and classes are infringments.

You're 100% right! Every citizen should be able to carry firearms concealed or not without consequence or permits...but laws have been passed by lawmakers (our elected representatives) that must be followed to the letter by the electorate or there will be consequences.
