Concealed Carry Questions?

I started carrying a S&W Model 36 in the spring of 1978. Later, as a LEO, I probably spent more time carrying a 4" S&W Model 19 than I will ever match with any later guns. Naturally both of those guns were pre-agreement since they both date to the days when many LEOs (like me) were required to carry revolvers. Currently my carry piece of choice is a Kahr K-40 Elite but I've been swapping it with SIG P229 lately (newer toy.) :D However the gun that's most likely on my person is a Kel-Tec P32 just because it's so easy to conceal.

Only had my restrictions off as of 3/02.....but I've carried every day(at least I can carry AFTER work.)SP101 357mag.No plans on changing but you never know....the idea of a lightweight summer gun is always appealing.Or maybe a babyGlock.........oh man........:uhoh:

Been carrying for two years. My first CCW was a CS9, my current daily carry is a SA Loaded. The CS9 is used from time to time and is usually in a fanny pack. The 1911 is always in a IWB.

5-yr CCW, Makarov w/Gold Dot ammo... Only had to use twice, but the combo worked quite efficiently in both cases, including one with three opponents.

TooTaxed (love that User ID),
Can you give us more details on the occasions you've been forced to use your carry gun?

S&W Model 49
Sig Sauer P220 in 45 acp
Sig Sauer P245 in 45 acp

I usually carry the S&W as my backup piece and off duty, but sometimes I've been known to carry the Sigs instead ( I can cary both of them as my duty weapons)

Regularly since about 1975.

Started with a Dan Wesson Mod.15 (3 3/4in) in 357mag. then went to a Taurus PT92 9mm in about 1986.

Shifted to a Rossi M720 in 44spc in about '92 when I decided I liked bigger calibers better than lots of cartridges. (I loaded up my own hot loads with JHP's to get decent performance).

Got religion in '00 and went to a 45acp for standard, daily carry (I shift between an SA 1911A1 MilSpec-Gov't, and an SA 1911A1 Champion both OWB)

I also have a S&W457 that I like a lot - (the SW457 is lighter and more compact than the two SA's and carries real well IWB in the summer).

It's kinda like having three girl friends each with different personalities - so I let my itinerary and attire dictate which one I "date".:D

Got my first CWL 20 years ago.

My first CCW was a .380 ACP Iver Johnson Pony.

Current CCWs are a Glock 19 and a Beretta Tomcat.

Had a few others in between.

I've been legally carrying for 7 years. First legal carry gun was S&W 459, current carry gun is S&W 637. In between have been Bersa .380, Charter 2000 44 special, and a few others.

3 years

Started with an Steyr M40 in shoulder rig, switched to Galco IWB Shirt Tucker Rig with same gun, then switched to Kel-Tec P-11 9mm in pccket holster, switched back to Steyr M40 IWB, and occasionally in the winter I carry my DW 1911 in 10mm in a Milt Sparks Watch Six IWB. After trying lots of carry options at the local gun store I have decided that my next purchase which I consider the ultimate carry piece will be a STI BLS or LS compact 1911 in .40 or 9mm depending on what size grip I get. The thinness of the the STI design IMHO makes it the easiest to carry and still is extremely shootable for precision accuracy, which I feel I must have in a carry piece. The Kel-Tec P-11 9mm was easy to carry but past 7 yards I had little confidence with the heavy trigger and small grip, if I can't hit the head at 20 yards I'm not comfortable.

I got my permit in 1999. My primary is a Kahr K40 stainless in an Alessi leather "in the pants" holster. My choice for heavy clothing is a H$K USP 45 Compact w/stainless slide. My choice for above the visor or very light clothing is a S&W 342PD.

I have been carrying for 12 years now. I started carrying a S&W 645, then a S&W 4567, a 4516, then a S&W Chief Special 45 ACP.

After about 10 years of carry a friend of mine sold me his Kahr K9. I fell in love with this relatively slim, light and shoot able carry gun. It has been my carry gun every since.

There are times that I do carry a Ruger SP101 with a tritium front sight.

I almost always carry IWB.

I started carrying when I gradudated from the Acadamy in 1973. My first "off-duty" gun was a S&W Model 60. In the Spring of 1974 my department authorized semiautos and I started carrying a 1911 on duty. Not long after that I quit carrying the M-60. For most of my LEO career and most of the years since retiring my carry gun has been a Commander (the original alloy frame version) in 45 ACP. For about 4 years I tried Glocks and primarily carried a G30 (still 45 ACP). My current carry gun is a Wilson KZ-45 Compact, which interestingly is a sort of hi-tech Commander.

I've had a carry permit for 20 years, but I haven't always carried. For a long time I would only carry under certain circumstances, but I've been carrying daily for about 12 years. I currently carry a S&W 342PD, 38spl. Sometimes I carry my Colt Gold Cup Commander, a Taurus 85, a S&W mod. 19 or a Colt Combat Target, which is a full size 1911. I have also carried a Ruger P90, and a Colt Officers ACP. The 342PD is fantastic for daily carry. It's so light, I barely know it's there. Sometimes I carry it in a pocket holster, sometimes in an IWB holster, and sometimes in an ankle holster.

I have been carrying 6 years, H&K P7 PSP in a versa max 2 holster. When I have to wear a suit and tie, it is my colt gov 380. I have never changed guns otherwise. Why mess with a good thing?

I've been carrying since 1975, both on and off duty. At first, duty w2eapon and off duty (concealed) was the same, S&W model 66 4" Only difference was that for off duty, I replaced the S&W original grips with a spare pair of grips cut down to where they barely increased the grip frame width. Still have them somewhere.

Been through a number of off duty weapons, from a Colt Detective special which was so far off sight picture, no amount of gunsmithing could cure, through an assortment of S&W compact and full sized Autos, the lost years when I thought James Bond was infallible and that a PPK was the be all to end all as the perfect concealed pistol, to what I have settled on what I find to be (for me) the best. My usual carry is a Para-Ordnance single stack45 LDA built on the Officers frame, carried behind the strong side hip, either with or without a holster, or just for a little variety, a model 649 J Frame 357, usually carried same as Para, or just dropped in pocket,(shrouded hammer eliminates snagging on a pocket when drawn.

The only pistol I could never get comfortable with as a CC Weaon was the SA, cocked and locked 45 Auto. I have recently added one more to my list, the family of Glock Pistols. Bought a model 23, found out it pointed high for me when drawn from holster and that with no manual safety, it was not a candidate for Mexican Carry.

As usual I have carried on far too long, a thousand pardons.

First real carry was a S&W 6906. The trigger was so bad it eventually gave me nightmares. (literally) Traded within the month.
Used a S&W 627 for a while. It only carried well because you could go for days without ever taking off a light jacket where I lived.

After that, a S&W 4053 worked for a long time.

Now, a 2" .38, a P99(9mm), or a Kimber Pro CDP.

Just been carrying about 6 months now. At first, it was a 4" S&W 686+ .357. While that is a GREAT gun for lots of things, it is pretty dang heavy and bulky. (especially for a "girth challenged" guy like me) Just recently (just before Christmas) got a Makarov, and LOVE it. It doesn't have the power of the .357, but I have 16 chances (with an extra magazine), vs. 7 with the S&W. The 686 still sleeps on the nightstand by my bed every night, though. I do carry it when camping, etc. but the Mak is the primary carry gun.

I've carried for about 10 years now, first was a Beretta 92D now I carry a HK USP 9, or at least I will be when i reapply for my carry permit. I let mine lapse. $60.00 to reapply vs $32.00 to renew. Won't make that mistake again

I have been carrying daily for almost 14 years. My summer carry gun is a S&W 45 acp mountain gun and a 3 inch 625 for backup.Winter carry guns are a 41 magnum mountain gun and a 3 inch model 657 for backup.I occasionally carry a S&W 642 for the rare occasions when I can not carry a full size gun.I have carried a lot of guns until I finally decided what I really wanted to carry.Other guns that I have carried.

First and only CC gun is a G26. However, have been looking to change, and looks like the new HK2000sk is winning. That or the new Walther sub when on the market.

Good shooting!!!
