I am actively involved in trying to get Washington State and Colorado to recognize each states CCW. I am a current Washington resident holder and Utah non-resident holder. Colorado will not recognize my Utah permit as I am not a resident.

Based on a basic understanding of the two States, the rub (according the Washington State's Attorney General) is that Colorado does not do a mental health background check. I can't find in the Colorado Statutes anything regarding mental health. The only thing I can find is that they have a medical right to privacy provision in one of the statutes that might be the core issue.

I have an email out to the Attorney General of Colorado in regards to this but thought I would also ask here.

Does anyone know if Colorado does a mental health check for CCW?

Thanks

So, basically, so your CCW is accepted you'd like another state to be more restrictive on what it does? How in the world does that make sense?

If I were you, I'd work it the other way. Get Washington to drop the mental health check rather then get Colorado to institute one.
Even then, it will stil be tough going. AFAIK, Oregon does a mental health check, and has more stringent requirements than WA, yet WA still wont honor an OR permit. May be because OR refuses to honor ANYONE elses permits, not matter the requirements though.Cant say as though I'd can really blame anyone for not honoring ours though, based on that. Plenty of states DO accept ours, just not WA, which stinks for a lot of people in the Portland area who go to WA a lot, as they have to get a WA permit too.

Just to re-iterate my question?
Does anyone know if Colorado does a mental health check for CCW?

No where in that question or anywhere in my whole original post am I trying to undermine anyone's rights, since our "High Road" group usually has the answer and works much faster than any government I thought I would ask here, thanks for input though.
