Do consecutive numbers add to value? I know its nifty to have to guns consecutivly numbered.
Reason I am asking is at the recent Houston gun show my friend got two consecutivly numbered lower receivers (DPMS). I have heard this adds value but it would make me feel better to hear it from a more educated crowd.
Thank You

Everything can be collectable to someone. If the firearms turns out to be a prized collectable then the consecutive serial numbers could raise the value significantly as long as the pair is kept together and in the same condition (save one and fire the other and the extra value is gone). If the firearm is a common model then you would have to find someone interested in that model to get a premium. To get the most value the pair of firearms should be unfired with all of the documents, boxes, and any factory accessories that came with them.

It might add value to a gun that is collectible to begin with. Depends on finding a person who just has to have two of a certain gun and wants consecutive serial numbers.

It won't add anything to a person who doesn't want two of the same gun or who doesn't care if the numbers are consecutive. In fact it will prevent a sale as you want to hold out for the guy who values what you have.

So, the answer is sometimes, maybe, and not always.

I bought my first .44 magnum revolver from a guy quite a few years ago. He mentioned he and his father had bought them at the same time, and his father didn't care an awful lot for the gun, either: "too much kick."

Turns out the father was willing to get rid of his, too.

Turns out they were consecutively serial-numbered. Are they worth more? Not then, but today, they are.

I don't think so on a DPMS lower. I just received 50, almost every one of them was consecutive. I could make a fortune:)

It would add value to a pair of Colts or Smiths since they refused to sell consecutive guns. Other companies do it.
