According to The Hill, Reid has announced he will push for a gun control vote in the Senate this session. So it is time to write your Senators on the matter (particularly if you live in any state where a Senator is up for reelection) and encourage them.

In my opinion, this is part of a larger effort by the Dems to make gun control work for them for a change. There are 5-6 Republican Senators who voted pro-RKBA in 2013; but who are running for reelection in 2016 in states Obama won in 2012. At the same time, the only Democrat Senator up for reelection in 2016 who is more likely to be hurt by a gun vote is Michael Bennett of Colorado.

The Dems are hoping that a gun vote can be used to either hurt Republican Senators in those purple states or scare them into compliance. We want to reassure pro-RKBA Senators that is not the case.

Dingy Harry isn't in charge any more. Whether or not a bill comes up for vote is up to the Majority Leader, currently Mitch McConnell. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Also today the Democrats are supposed to introduce a "package" of gun control bills. Apparently the usual, along with some new proposals.

I also doubt they will go anywhere because should it pass the Senate (unlikely) it will still have to get through the House, which is even more unlikely.

Never the less, when the details of the latest Democrat bills are known it will be time to write the officeholders in Washington to be sure they know we are still here, and an election isn't all that far away.

When Reid had some authority post Sandy Hook, he stalled pretty much every gun control bill in the Senate. Now that he's no longer the Majority Leader (and didn't he announce his retirement plans?) he's pandering to the leftist base to show how he's doing "something" when he knows something is really nothing. It's typical leftist politics. Push for an issue that's going nowhere, and then blame your opponent when it doesn't go through. It's politics 101.

He's either senile enough, or thinks the people are stupid enough, not to see right through this. Sorry, Harry, but we're not stupid.

Wrote all five of my legislators (2 state, 3 federal) and one executive (yes Obama, he asked gun owners to write!) already. Proposed ending "gun free" zones. Being from Michigan, I'm sure my letters to national level people got quickly deleted. State level has a chance though.

Only so he can pick out the really outrageous responses and use them for "ammunition" in his anti-gun campaign.

I doubt the Republican leadership will be interested in acquiescing to Dingy Harry's wishes. Hopefully, he'll soon be gone and Nevada will display better sense in picking his replacement. Here's a nice little sign in Reid's home town of Searchlight, NV:

Reid was NRA's man for soooooo long, even sponsoring a federally purchased gun range in Nevada, I think. The NRA didn't care about any of his other politics, as long as he spouted the NRA line. Apparently the worm has turned.

The year after Reid got $61 million for that gun range the NRA refused to endorse him. It is rather foolish to snub an ally especially when that person in the Senate Majority Leader.

Yes, it was foolish - and the NRA didn't even get credit for it from their critics who continually repeat the misinformation that Reid was NRA A-rated or endorsed.

Oh, I know. Being in Michigan, I've got three "blue" reps between the House and Senate also. Email doesn't cost very much to send though.

Here's what I sent to Capitol Hill, just in case anyone has writers block... Made some tweaks for POTUS and the State Reps.

One of my Senators is running for president and could care less. The other one would agree with Harry.

Reid will soon be gone. But what will replace him? It may be a question of the devil you know verses the one you don't.
