I've heard that it's possible to convert 7.5x55 Swiss GP-11 rifle brass from Berdan primers to Boxer primers. Anybody out there do this, know how to do this, or can direct me to instructions? I just hate to scrap this beautiful brass.

Thanks!

Check utube. Some good videos on it there. I've done a bunch of 7.62x54r. Not to hard to do if you have the time.

I looked into it; very labor intensive and time consuming. Probably tooling intensive, too. I was impressed with the clever way they came up with to deprime the brass; hydraulic pressure from a neck expander in a case full of water. Clever, but messy, I assume.

Not a bad idea to know how to do it if the ever comes that Starline stops making new cases

I have that tool that RCBS makes. I loose about 1 in 8 due to gouging the hump off the center of the brass. I now use a homemade hydraulic punch system and never have a problem. I am going to clean them with SS media after anyway so it is no big deal to get them wet. Another method is to use a punch inside and a large ball in the pocket to squish the head some and then drill/uniform the primer pocket to fit a boxer primer. This method I have not tried yet.:scrutiny:

You can reload Berdan primed ammo. It is really just one step more than reloading Boxer brass. I have reloaded and fired thousands of rounds of it in the 7.5 Swiss. The primers are being brought in by TulAmmo. Results have been uniformly excellent.
