good morning, i was wondering if anyone ever converted their Sig p226 40 caliber to the 357 sig. its the same casing and from what i understand all i need is the 357 sig barrel. the 357 sig fits the .40 caliber mags.

If I recall correctly, I ordered the barrel from TopGunSupply (TGS).

I am struggling to remember if I also needed to change the recoil spring... Nope - just checked and it's the same spring (green) used for both chamberings.

does the 357 sig put any additional stress on the gun from what you can tell vs the 40? ive read it does but id rather get the opinion from an actual owner

It's snappier but I have no way to know how it stacks up to the 40SW in terms of stress on the gun. I assume that it's ok for the gun since Sig sells a bunch of 'em.

I did this with my P229, just a barrel swap and that's it. I live close enough to Top Gun Supply that I drove up there and bought the barrel. Those guys really should put pictures of their 'show room' on the website because it's really nice in there.

I have a P226 that I did what you are asking. I just got a .357 Sig
barrel from Sig and dropped it in. No need to get different mags.
It works just fine.

I have a P229 that I did the swap from .40 to .357 just by changing out the barrel. I want to do the same to my P239, but I've heard I need different mags as well. Is this true?

.357s vs 40 cal

I've acquired both P226 & P239 as 40 Cal, I bought the .357 barrels for both and the original 40 Cal magazines accept the .357s ammunition, same number of rounds, all is equal! The .357s rounds are noticeably snapper.
