Found this bench in a small town in Colorado. Oak Creek is the name of the town. I think this sentence is bigger than the town....

Anywho... This bench has .50 caliber rounds as part of the bench. They were real cartridges. Im pretty sure they had the powder and primer removed, but who knows, maybe the builder liked to live dangerously.

What does the plaque in the star say? Is it part of a war memorial?

    Yes,

It was a memorial to a soldier who was killed who was from Oak Creek, I believe. I read it a couple of times, but memory is faint on it. I just thought it was a great tribute and a fine place to plant a rump until the chinese place across the street opened up.

The machinery behind it is mining equipment.. The park was mostly an exhibit on "giant hunks of machinery that could kill you at will"
