Cop almost loses gun

Holy cow, I can barely get mine to sit still in my truck bed when driving the short distance to shoot behind my house.
 
As I understand it, leaning a gun against a vehicle, much less actually laying one on the hood/trunk, can get you a fine in PA. :eek:

We have had guns left at our range. We had one member leave a boxed handgun on the roof and drive off. The Sig box was found on the side of the roadway by someone driving be later in the day. An M1A was left in the rack after the end of a match a few years back. It happens.

Understand what you are saying-but this is by Police Officers.This is why I only trust my self when it comes to fire arms.

Those two are never going to live that one down. It certainly could have ended a lot worst then it did, it is truly a miracle it stayed on the trunk and that no one took it. In that aspect they are both very lucky.

When I was at Camp Lejeune somebody lost their rifle while in the field. After 19 straight hours of the entire unit searching for it, it turned up buried in the back of a Humvee. Needless to say that person was not only charged, but he also "tripped" down the stairs.

I was referring to the criminal element in that city more than anything else. Criminals will snatch something like that right up, given the chance

Well, considering there is hardly any steel at all in AR (a few pins, the springs, hammer and sear) I'm going to say ix-nay on the ings-spray.

Bubble gum? Maybe.

Since there is a mag installed, I'm guessing it was loaded, too.

What a pair of boobs. Hope they are on bicycle patrol for a good while....like, the next ten years or so.

You might be onto it. Maybe they had seldom touched a gun before their first LEO job.

The opposite has happened in Memphis. Some thugs followed an FBI or other agency's truck or SUV to a restaurant by I-40.
Maybe they followed them from another city, or could easily recognize the type of car and license plates which often transport such guns?

While the agents were eating, the car was apparently in view but all of the high-powered guns were stolen.

Seems to be a bit of an unfair generalization. I know plenty of people who were kept safe due to police intervention. The little vomiting icon you put after your comment doesnt seem very high road in this context.

In his defense, perhaps the fellow was merely referencing case law that affirms that police have ZERO obligation to protect people. I'm sure the lawyers that visit here know what I'm talking about.
 
I was at one of the local Seattle ranges(Wade's) a while back talking with one of the employees. I pointed to one of the holes in the ceiling of the range, to which he replied that it was actually one of the local PD :what:.

As I understand it, most departments prefer semi auto patrol rifles even though they can get cheap surplus FA weapons from the military. You don't gain that much with full auto (marksmanship in a gunfight is bad enough with semi), it looks bad in court to use a "machine gun," and the record keeping requirements are less onerous with a Title I firearm.
 
I heard later it was really a sting operation. It was simply a "bait" car/rifle. Police were ready to swoop in if someone tried to take the rifle. :D Also, those BATF rifles smuggled over the border had GPS microchips hidden in the buttstocks. At no time were they off the grid. Federal agencies were tracking them all the time. ;)
 
haha. And yet another reason why cops don't need guns like that...Actually, I'm being serious.

Doctors have amputated the wrong limb before. Doesnt mean all doctors are incompetent.
 
easy on the generalizations. It's a big mistake for sure, but unfair to lump every LEO into the fray. I hope those involved get some good old-fashioned counseling over this, but that's about it.

With respect to cops, and I used to be one for 20 years, the point is too often cops forget where they come from, who they work for, and that they are just as fallible as the guy they are pulling over or arresting. All the public asks is that they remember those things, and use common sense, respect, and treat the subject at hand as they would like to be treated. Too often, cops get the us-vs.-them attitude, and that they are "better" than the rest of the population. Reality check that needs to be cashed. :)

Then you have others who want to explain it from their own perspective:confused:

Someone '1', messed up, and will be punished:D

Most who have commented should read the article, close LOL...
