Has anyone here seen one of the newer Ruger LCRs with a copper cylinder? I haven't seen one IRL but a couple of online vendors have them. The gun isn't on Ruger's website (at least yet). It appears from the sales copy that the cylinder is SS with a copper plating. It will probably take on some beautiful patina as you handle and carry it. They seem to have a hammerless and a spurred version out there. I am curious how the copper plating will hold up over time.

I'll confess I'm seriously tempted!

That's the first I've heard of it being copper plated, and yes, I have seen one. It certainly doesn't look copper plated (other than color). It appears to be anodized or something similar.

It might very well be Ceracoat or Duracoat now that I think about it. The finish certainly reminds me of it. I hadn't thought about the solvent issue, but that's spot on too.

Honest copper would be the last thing I'd choose. It'd patina badly if left to be, and erode from the many copper solvents commonly used to clean guns.

Unless.... that's the whole point of this gun! Untraceable after a few uses because it erodes away!

Ruger LCR 5440

Runs $369.99, showing in stock at Sportsman's Outdoors right now. That easy.

Don't you own a 3" LCR that you put purple grips on? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Hahaha! You have a good memory! Of course, those purple shoes are hard to forget!:D Yeah, I still have it and have no intention of getting rid of it, but I do kind of wish I'd have kept the 2" hammerless version. At the time I didn't see the need to have them both but the holster for the 3" is large enough that I might as well carry my HK P2000.

Late to the party here... but it is not Cerakote or Duracoat. It is a copper wash that is surprisingly durable. I have the LCRx version with copper cylinder, that was T&E gun. So it got passed around alot. No cylinder wear marks from shooting or anything. It's quite striking in person. And 16oz on nose loaded with .38spl.

Even though I tend to be conservative (classic) in terms of firearm aesthetics, I think I like the "copper/blue" treatment on the LCR. I wonder if Ruger chambers an LCR revolver chambered in .327 Federal Magnum with this finish?

I'm not sure if I like it or not but I'm leaning to the like side. I like black/blue revolvers but that cylinder really stands out. I carry a S&W M442 daily and I have my doubts the coating will stand up but that's only a guess.
