I don't own any yet, but am going to start building a lockable storage unit for my ammo tomorrow (similar in some ways to my gun cabinet) for a weekend project. I plan to buy some .50 cal cans soon to dump my rifle ammo into (I like the idea of using .30 cal cans for handgun ammo and .50 cal cans for rifle ammo), but as of the moment I only have .30 cal cans with my handgun ammo and all of my rifle ammo is still in their original boxes.

I may pick up a can tomorrow just for the measurements, but in case I don't - could somebody just measure a .50 can and give me the dimensions?

    Thanks.

sorry i dont have a can to measure for you.
this may not be pheasible for you but what i did is to simply rip the toilet and sink from the half bath off of my bedroom, remove the window, and replace the door knob to one that locks with a key.
just an idea. give you more room that a cabinet would.
