Thank you bannockburn! That knife is starting to feel real good in the hand. Im going to drill the (cocobolo) handle for the pin and send it off to Peters' soon.(after a little more touch up) . Then I will do the final fitting and shaping of the handle once it's all put together.

I can see the painstaking detail you did.
Looks great.
Inspired me to finish a similar D2 blank that has been on my bench a long time
Thanks!

Made it myself. I rarely buy parts besides mosaic pins and corby bolts. I make all my knives from "scratch"

You guys are calling it a bolster, but it's really more of a guard without the guard part of it ,sort of,or maybe it is a bolster ...hmmm...

Another term could be a ferrule, as seen on some old tool designs. Kept the wood from expanding or fraying from rough use. Guards are usually to protect the hand or prevent it from moving forward. The swell in the middle and the flare at the butt eliminates any need for a guard, but the brass is certainly pleasing to the eye. I'm not a big trailing point fan, but whoever designed this one had a keen eye.
