couple RMR bullet questions?

I am loading them at 1.08 and started at 4.4, guessing it will take about 4.6 to make 125 PF.
I am searching for loads that work well and make a bit above 125 PF so about 1030-1050 fps.
At 1.08 I think the FMJ data will be closer but maybe a wee bit high. (at least with CFE-P)
Will post when I have a chance to get some chrono results.

All I need to do now is figure out how to get the farmers to pay me for taking a day off and making it rain. (doesn't rain here that much)
Then I can order some more bullets from RMR.:)

I bought some of the RMR FP FMJ to use for 357 sig and 9mm. For the 9, I have a S&W shield that I want to work up a load for. I have not loaded for it yet, but have read it has a pretty short lead. I'm guessing I will need to have an OAL between 1.08 and 1.06 with the FP.

For powder, I was thinking to start with WSF at 3.8 or 3.9 and work up. I have a chrono so I can watch the numbers as I progress. I would like to use this in a practical pistol match but I'm new to that and don't know the rules yet. I'm guessing I need to make the 125 PF. Can I get there with a 3" barrel and Wsf?

I would like to use my carry gun for the practical pistol. Maybe not the best choice but gives me time using it.

I would hope that "consistent charge" and "consistent results" are somewhat related in this case.
Not always. Sometimes things don't work, even when very consistent. But yea, we hope for get consistent results when we feel like we have done everything right.

125 FMJ Winchester WSF 0.355 1.16 4.7 1015 27,700 PSI 5.3 1115 32,700 PSI
Long OAL but start is 4.7
No problem starting at 3.8 but you might not have function, should be more than enough for the bullet to clear the barrel.
I don't think you need to go that low to start. If it was me I would start at 4.3-4.4 with the FNs at 1.08 OAL
Just guessing but probably around 4.6gr WSF to make 125 PF with a 3" barrel.

For me I prefer not having an exposed lead base so I have lots of the MPR JHPs on hand, looking at that to be my go to bullet for matches and practice as well.
(Feels wrong shooting nice HPs for practice but the price on them is right:), getting ready to order a couple 1000 more)

These are with the MPR JHP wth 4.0gr WSF at different OALs
Note that even short at a 1.04 OAL 4gr is just making about 1000fps.
With this mild load the difference between 1.04 and 1.08 was about 40fps.
Bear in mind things would probably be a lot different you you were closer to a MAX charge
You have plenty of room to work with going up so getting a load to make 125 PF, so even with a 3" barrel it should be easy and leave you plenty of wiggle room..

Dudedog,

Wow!

Thanks for the info. I will take your advice and up the starting charges some. No point in going too low.

It will be a couple weeks before I can try anything out. I’ll update with results later.

Thank you!

I loaded up some of the FNs at varying charges with an OAL of 1.08. Will try to test some out of my 3" XD subcompact to give you a better Idea of what it will take.

So, I am new to this forum and recently purchased some RMR bullets for trial. Below are my Chrono results for the 124gr RN(plated) and the 124gr JHP MPR. I did not think to take a picture of the impact to target for accuracy purposes. I was shooting through my chrono @ 10 ft ... at a target at 20 yds. NOT BENCHED ... Free style. If I recall correctly, grouping wasall within a 'soup can' lid.

Welcome to THR Shooting.Dawg.
Lots of great people here.

Thanks for the chrono #s.

RMR offers THR members a 5% discount with the code TheHighRoad5 and THR your screen name

RMR is a pleasure to do business with.
I really like their new MPR, cheap enough to do double duty, practice/match/zombie loads.
