Crack in mauser stock...help!!

I found a crack in my mauser today (K98 BNZ 4). It is just behind where the barrel meets the reciever about even with the ejection port. It runs paralel to the line of the bore and is right where the wood ends at the top so if you fool with it a piece about 1/8 of and inch wide and 2 inches long will most likely break off. I will try and get a picture posted. what can I do to fix it without making it looked cobbed?

I'm not a gunsmith and I'm sure others might give a better answer.

However, clean the crack the best you can, open it up a bit and inject a high quality glue into the crack, wrap with surgical tubing to squeeze it together. Should be good as new.

What Ohen Cepel said, use a good two part epoxy, lots of folks use Acruglass wiht the brown dye built in. Some will recomend Gorilla glue, but I don't like it becase it foams out and may not be as strong as epoxy.

Epoxy should work well. Use a syringe to get the epoxy as far into the crack as possible. You should only need a very tiny amount, too much will ooze out of the crack and show on the wood. Use wood shims to protect the stock, and clamp it with a bar clamp or vise. clamp it tight enough to close the crack, but not so tight as to damage the wood. When you clamp the wood, a small amount of epoxy should seap out of the crack, use a damp rag to wipe it up. Use an epoxy that gives you enough time to do this before it sets (no instant epoxy).

Let the epoxy cure (couple hours or over night) and then remove the stock from the claps. Sand and refinish if desired/necesary.
