ok i got a new degree and my dad said to pick out a gun!!!!
for whatever reason i really think i want a 329pd

anyway does anybody here have a set of the crimson trace hoghunter grips (lg-313 or 314) ?
id like to know how much padding does it have over the backstrap?
thanks

The grips you want are the LG-314 (as seen here: http://www.gunshopfinder.com/crimson_trace/smith_and_wesson_lg314.html ).

The Crimson Trace grips are all made from polymer, the same material that Glock, Springfield XD, and other guns have for their frames.

On most of the Crimson Trace grips, there's a thin layer of rubber molded over the polymer, as there is on the LG-314's. It doesn't really provide any cushioning to speak of, at least not like Hogue grips or Uncle Mikes. The rubber is more for stickiness.

What grips are on the revolver you're looking at? Rubber, laminate or wood?

I don't have a set of 314 grips in front of me, but I'm 90% sure that they cover the backstrap. That may provide you a small amount of cushioning compared to the factory grips.

Have you fired the 329PD before? I ask because grips on a gun have never hurt my hand from recoil. It's always been my wrist that's taken the brunt of it.

I'd rent a 329 and shoot magnums out if it before I worried about laser grips.
